Battera's Castle is an old castle that belongs to Battera.[1]
Overview[]
The castle is ornately furnished in its upper levels and once housed multiple armed guards.[2] In its lowest level is a room where thirty two copies of the Greed Island game run on JoyStation Consoles. Many Greed Island players entered the game at Battera's castle, which is located on an elevated position with walls and cliffs below it. It is also equipped with a state-of-the-art security system, with Tsezguerra having warned the new players that it might kill them if they wander off.[1]
Plot[]
Greed Island arc[]
All the applicants hired by Battera make their way by train to the castle, and Tsezguerra leads them down to a basement, mentioning that the castle is equipped with a state-of-the-art security system and warning them that they may be killed if they wander off. They eventually reach a room full of JoyStation Consoles and monitors, and Tsezguerra explains to them how the game works, saying that they will all end up in the same place and likening it to an MMORPG. As Killua tries his best to explain it to Gon, Tsezguerra gives out memory cards to those who don't have one and tells them to choose the order in which they will enter in order to avoid any arguments inside, since each person will have the system explained to them upon entering. The group decides the order based on rock-paper-scissors, and Gon ends up the winner.[1]
After Tsezguerra assures him that he will end up in the same place as the others, Gon decides to use the memory card and ring that Ging gave him. Before entering, he thinks about Ging and the game he created, and even though he isn't sure what lies ahead, he trusts his father and knows this was his message. After Killua tells Gon to wait for him at the starting point, an aura surrounds Gon and he quickly disappears and enters the game. Tsezguerra says that once "now playing" is shown on the screen, the next player can enter.[1] After the last player enters the game, Battera asks Tsezguerra about the current batch, and Tsezguerra says that he will need to stay focused. He checks his watch and says that he should return to the game since he will lose his memory card data if he doesn't get back within ten days.[3]
After revealing that he's the Bomber to Nickes and his alliance, Genthru tells them to think about his offer and says that the exchange will happen at Battera's castle, asking them to choose someone to meet him there. Later, Genthru waits inside the room of consoles, and Puhat arrives as the group's representative. Genthru says that he expected Nickes, and Puhat counters by saying that he thought Genthru would be with his accomplices. Right on cue, two men with symbols on their foreheads suddenly appear, and Genthru says that Puhat didn't notice because both are more skilled than him. He asks for the ring, but Puhat says that they still haven't decided, with Nickes wanting to use "Angel's Breath" on Jispa. Genthru threatens to go back and finish Jispa off, ordering Puhat to go back and get the 81 specified slot cards.[4]
Puhat tries to act as an intermediary, reminding him that if time runs out and they all die, the data in their rings will vanish, but Genthru grabs him by the throat and understands his strategy. He says that the trick is to display one's calmness and craziness at the same time, and as Puhat tries to remind him about the data in the ring vanishing, Genthru sets off an explosion with Little Flower and decapitates him. He tells his corpse not to worry since they already made sure that the card data isn't lost if they kill a player outside the game (even though he's confident that Puhat wasn't carrying any valuable cards).[4]
Nickes arrives at the castle, and Genthru asks for the ring. Nickes says that Jispa is dead, but Genthru simply asks for the ring again. Nickes angrily tells him to disarm the bombs first, but Genthru says that he needs to take the ring inside Greed Island and confirm whether all the cards are there. He asks for the ring once again, and Nickes finally hands it over. Genthru tosses it to Sub and tells him to put it on since he's already wearing his and wearing a second ring outside the game will result in his original data being overwritten.[5]
Battera is seen alone in his room looking at a television screen and crying.[6] As they flee from the Bombers, Tsezguerra tells his team that their last option is to use a "Leave" card and confront Genthru's team in the castle if they come after them. Once inside the castle, they find that all the armed guards are gone. Tsezguerra calls out to Sabazushi, who comes around a corner and says that he was sleeping. He tells the group that everyone left since Battera cancelled the contract, and while he already received his cancellation fee, he stayed behind to tell them what happened.[2]
Tsezguerra is left speechless and heads for Battera's room, banging on the door and demanding to know why he called things off when they were so close to clearing the game. The multi-billionaire mutters that he doesn't care anymore, and Tsezguerra is left confused after all the years of work they put in as a group. Battera says that he will pay them through his lawyer and that they can do whatever they want with the three cards, finally telling them to leave him alone. As Tsezguerra and his team stand confused outside his room, they hear a scream down the hallway and Genthru is seen to have killed Sabazushi with Little Flower, saying that they can kill anyone they want since they won't lose their card data.[2]
