Bean (ビーン, Bīn) was a Mafia member under the direct command of the Ten Dons and was shown to be responsible for the communication between them and the rest of the Mafia Community.[1]

Bean had medium-length hair in a ponytail and was dressed in a black suit with a tie.
Personality[]
Though ordinarily able to reason coolly[2] even under pressure.[3] The actions of the Phantom Troupe in the Cemetery Building tested Bean's nerves enough for him to first snap at and threaten doctors and paramedics.[4] Afterward, he'd panic when he realized his fellow Mafia members were being annihilated.[1] Despite the heavy losses on his side, he called the confrontation a success since none of the capos were injured.[5]

Yorknew City arc[]
On September 1st in the Cemetery Building, after the Phantom Troupe massacres Underground Auction attendees, Bean and several other Mafia members are completely stunned to find that all the items in the vault have been stolen.[3] After spotting a hot-air balloon and guessing that it wasn't just an armored heist, he contacts the Ten Dons to request the deployment of the Shadow Beasts.[6]

Two nights later, at the Cemetery Building, a young girl faints in the building as a young man beside her furiously demands that the security call for an ambulance. Bean sternly replies that no one can enter the building's perimeter without a pass, but the young man reveals that the girl is Neon Nostrade and that he will have to answer to her father. Bean remembers that even the Dons are fans of her, finally ordering one of his men to call an ambulance.[2]

As the Phantom Troupe massacres Mafia members and police all around the Cemetery Building, Bean asks how many there are and orders his men to stop them before they reach the building. After learning that there are less than ten of them, Bean spots the ambulance approaching, but as the doctor and paramedics ask where the patient is, Bean and the other Mafia members suddenly draw their weapons and surround the three men. Bean threatens to kill them if they try anything, ordering them to follow him.[4] Later that night, as the massacre rages on outside, Bean urgently calls someone and asks where the backup is. The person replies that they should be there already, but as Bean hears screaming and sees a large explosion outside, he realizes that the 2,000 armed men are all being killed. Breathing heavily, he runs for cover and calls someone else, ordering them to get him in touch with the Dons immediately.[1]

As the fight between Chrollo and the two Zoldycks ends with an enormous explosion that causes the entire building to shake, Bean tries to calm down the Mafia members by assuring them that he has contacted the Don. He adds that they are setting up a live video feed, asking the Mafia members to follow him to the auction hall. One of the members makes sure that it's not located in the basement (given the fortune they received from Neon), and Bean assures them that it has been moved to the tenth floor. One of the Dons gives his speech and reveals that the Troupe's leader has been killed, telling the Mafia members to enjoy the auction. As they clap and cheer, Bean asks them not to disappoint the Dons since they have invited them to participate in the auction.[5]
After the announcer begins the auction and introduces the first item, Bean walks backstage and breathes a sigh of relief, pulling out a cigarette and telling himself that at least none of the capos were injured. As he looks for his lighter, someone holds one out from the darkness, and Bean is startled by the man's face, who turns out to be Hisoka. Taking advantage of the distraction, Machi proceeds to kill Bean by hanging him with her Nen thread.[5]
