Bendot seems to like fighting, as he is fired up to battle Tonpa,[1] and was disappointed when he did not get a fight. But after seeing Killua easily kill Johness, he refused Killua's challenge, indicating that he knows his limits.[2]

Background

Bendot was sentenced to 199 years in prison for robbery and murder. Nothing else is known about his past, but Killua says that he looks ex-military, guessing that he was a mercenary.[3]

The Trick Tower prisoners

After Gon and his team enter the arena inside Trick Tower, the shrouded Bendot turns to the nearby surveillance camera and points out that the examinees have arrived, asking that his handcuffs be unlocked. Lippo quickly unlocks them, and the restraints around Bendot's wrists fall to the floor. Bendot then removes the shroud from his head and tells the examinees that the committee has chosen them as their taskmasters. He explains that the five examinees will challenge the five prisoners in one-on-one fights, revealing that they can choose the order and will be allowed to pass if they win a majority of the matches. He adds that they can fight in whatever way they choose and that the opponent has to admit defeat for a victory to be declared.[1]

Bendot tells them to vote on whether they accept the challenge, and Leorio can't believe that they have to vote on it. The vote was unanimous in accepting the challenge, and Bendot offered to fight first, telling the examinees to choose their contender. Tonpa confidently volunteers and says that he will evaluate their capabilities, adding that they can avoid him fighting in a tiebreaker if he goes first. After bridges extend and the two walk onto the platform, Bendot proposes that they fight until one of them admits defeat or dies. Tonpa agrees to the terms, and Bendot respects his determination, quickly leaping toward him to begin the match. However, Tonpa immediately falls to his hands and knees and admits defeat.[1]

Tonpa forfeits

Tonpa forfeits the match against Bendot

With the other examinees taken aback, Bendot chuckles and returns to the prisoners' side of the arena, saying that they will fail the exam if they lose two more matches and asking if they want to continue.[1] It's revealed that Bendot is serving a sentence of 199 years for robbery and murder. As he puts his restraints back on, he says that he hoped for a better fight and wanted to toy with Tonpa until time ran out. As the other prisoners discuss the examinees, Bendot adds that they will easily stop them since two of them are just kids. After the examinees learn that the prisoners' goal is to stall them for as long as they can, Killua tells Tonpa that he made the right decision to surrender so quickly. He says that Bendot looks ex-military and guesses that he was a mercenary, telling Tonpa that he would have crushed his larynx so he couldn't admit defeat and tortured him slowly afterward.[3]

Bendot with the other prisoners

After Sedokan's loss to Gon[3] and Majtani's to Kurapika, Bendot reminds the remaining two prisoners that their side has lost two in a row.[4] When Leorio bets ten hours that Majtani is still alive, Bendot chuckles and calls Leorio weird for betting the opposite of what he hopes.[5] After defeating Leorio, Leroute asks how much time the examinees had left, and Lippo's reply is 59 hours and 45 minutes. Bendot says that the examinees now have less than ten hours, with the last prisoner adding that time won't matter since his opponent will die. After Killua easily kills Johness, Bendot reminds him that before they can continue down the tower, they have to spend 50 hours in a small room nearby. Killua asks Bendot if he wants to fight him since Tonpa surrendered so quickly, but Bendot politely and nervously declines the offer, leaving Killua with a smile on his face.[2]

Abilities & Powers

Bendot seems to be a rather strong and ruthless fighter, although he knows he is no match for Killua. He has a very muscled body, which surely contributes to his brawn and endurance. As a result of his military training, he may have acquired some skills in hand-to-hand combat as well as weaponry.
