Synopsis[]

Chap 141 - Gon's training paying off

Gon's training paying off

Gon and Killua finish digging through another stone pillar, traveling five kilometers in one day. Both are confident that they can make it to Masadora in a few more days. That night, while the two rest with even larger rocks hanging above their heads, Biscuit throws a knife and cuts Gon's rope, with Gon successfully evading it and smiling at her afterward.

They eventually reach Masadora for the second time, but Biscuit orders them to head back again, stating that this time they will be collecting the cards for every kind of monster they've encountered in the area. She tells the two that they are still lacking in their observation and analysis skills, especially when it comes to combat, adding that they will have to figure things out by themselves.

As Gon chases a Hyper Puffball, Biscuit praises the game's creators for guaranteeing that a player will get stronger as long as they do things in the intended order. As she realizes that his father's sole reason for creating the game was to train his son, Gon catches the creature by the tail and happily collects its card. Biscuit says to herself that the ability to think fast and adapt is vital in Nen combat, adding that this tactical speed has to become second nature to them. She guesses that the Bubble Horse will take them around a month to figure out, at which point they will be done with the second phase.

Chap 141 - Gon using Ten and Zetsu to catch a Bubble Horse

Gon using Ten and Zetsu to catch a Bubble Horse

Soon after, Gon expertly switches between Ten and Zetsu to make his way through the horse's bubbles, eventually catching it and rejoicing as he collects its card. He tells Killua that even though it took him two weeks longer, he finally caught up. Killua applauds his success and says that he was training while Gon was playing tag. Biscuit observes and smiles, saying to herself that Killua is stronger and better at analyzing, while Gon is focused and recovers rapidly, which makes the two a great team.

Biscuit says that it's time to start training them in defense, focusing her aura around her fist and telling them that it's the move Gon has been using. She explains that it's called Ko, an application using Ten, Zetsu, Ren, Hatsu, and Gyo that involves focusing all of one's aura into a single part of the body. She tells them that she will use this to attack them and they have to block and defend against it. She senses their nervousness and says that even if they block normally with aura, they will still get seriously injured, asking them what they should do then. Gon says that they should use Ko as well, but Biscuit says that he is half right, explaining that if they chose the right area to defend, they would be fine, but if they are hit somewhere else, they would be killed. Killua suggests using Ko over their entire body, even though it sounds contradictory. Biscuit says that it's the correct answer--an application of Ten and Ren called Ken that covers the body with more aura than normal.

Chap 141 - Biscuit using Ko to punch Gon

Biscuit using Ko to punch Gon

She asks Gon to use Ren and explains that Ken is maintaining that state, ordering him to stay like that and block her punch. She moves her fist very slowly toward him, and as Gon wonders why, he was sent flying back when her fist makes contact with him. Breathing hard and with a bruised and bloody face, he sits up as Biscuit explains that he relaxed because of how slow her punch was, adding that she would have crushed his face if he had lost his Ken. She stresses that that damage was from Ko alone and that once she adds the power and speed of a punch, it will be even more destructive. After Gon smiles and rises to his feet, Biscuit asks him to maintain Ken for as long as he can, but Gon tires out after two minutes before Biscuit can use another punch. Gon realizes that he never knew how difficult maintaining Ren was, and Biscuit tells him that if he wants to fight strong opponents, he will need to maintain Ken for at least 30 minutes.
