She then announces that it is time to practice combat. She explains Ken is an even split of offense and defense, whereas Ko is all or nothing, leaving one defenseless. In situations of real combat, she tells that using Gyo is more viable to adjust the ratio of offense and defense as necessary. Gon and Killua then practice using Gyo, distributing their aura at different proportions throughout their body as ordered by Biscuit. Afterwards, she instructs that they should practice it for half an hour, three times a day, and that they will begin kumite or sparring.

Biscuit introduces the concept of Ryu or flow, and how they will use it during sparring. She instructs that they try it out slowly but carefully and precisely as they take turns in attacking and defending. The sparring exercise is Flowing Dance, based on one of the advanced forms of Kumite, wherein players of equal skill perfect their moves at purposely low speeds. Biscuit then thinks to herself that if done every day, they will be able to perform Ryu at top speed in two months. Then they can proceed to the final phase.
