Synopsis[]

Chap 146 - Killua showing his electricity to Gon and Biscuit

Killua showing his electricity to Gon and Biscuit

After it's stated that Gon's Rock uses enhanced aura and his Paper uses emitted aura, it's asked whether a Scissors attack would use transmuted aura. Gon confirms this and says that he wants to use it to slice through things. He tells Biscuit that when she mentioned rock-paper-scissors, it gave him the idea, adding that he really likes the game. Biscuit says that when it comes to developing an ability, gut feeling, and what feels right are very important. During their talk of developing abilities, Killua gets their attention and shows off his electricity, arcing it between his hands and saying that he can do more after charging up. Gon says that his ability is amazing, and Biscuit thinks to herself that Killua must have had a hellish life to be able to do that at his age, unable to believe that he can smile at all.

As the two boys happily chat about their abilities, Biscuit says to herself that they make a perfect team and tells them that they will end training for the day to celebrate, reminding them that it's almost New Year's Eve in the real world. Gon suddenly remembers that the Hunter Exam is soon and that Killua needs to apply. Biscuit tells them that the current date is December 29 and the application deadline is December 31. Gon wonders how Killua is supposed to leave the game, and Killua says that the members of the alliance mentioned having to do a certain task somewhere, but he also remembers that a certain spell card will let him leave.

They decide to head to Masadora to look for the card, asking the shopkeeper for information. After they pay him Jenny Symbol 20113,000, he tells them to head 50 kilometers west in order to reach the only port, but adds that the Harbormaster will only let them through if they bribe him (with the amount depending on his current mood). He also mentions that a spell card will let them leave, but says that it's rare and may be difficult to obtain. Killua decides to go for the port option since the card may not even be available if it's maxed out.

Chap 146 - Gon and Killua encountering monsters and using Gyo to analyze them

Gon and Killua encountering monsters and using Gyo to analyze them

On their way to the harbor, they encounter several wolf-like monsters and use Gyo to see that they will attack differently. They expertly dodge their attacks and strike back, eventually obtaining the "Alpha Wolf" card. As Biscuit dodges the monsters, she says that it's almost annoying how perfect the two are, guessing that they could easily defeat B-rank monsters at this point.

After they reach the harbor, Killua obtains a "Transport Ticket" from the Harbormaster and says that he will come right back after he passes the exam. Gon wishes him good luck and tells him about the Kiriko who live at the Lone Pine near Dolle Harbor, saying that he just needs to mention that they're friends and they will take him to the exam. Biscuit tells him to rotate his practice exercises, doing Transmutation, Enhancement, Conjuration, and then back to Transmutation.

As Gon and Biscuit head back to Masadora to continue training, Gon tells her that all his free slots are starting to fill up with monster cards. Biscuit says that they will set up camp near Masadora and sell them at the shop. She quickens their pace and begins training Gon in Transmutation, demonstrating the level one exercise of shapeshifting (forming numbers with aura on one's finger). Gon struggles to form the number "0" on his index finger, and Biscuit says that he passes when he can do "0" to "9" in a minute and that the ultimate goal is within five seconds. Gon runs into something while concentrating, and Biscuit tells him to also pay attention to where he's going.

Elena and Killua

Killua meeting Elena as he prepares to leave the game

Killua enters a room similar to the one at the Starting Point and sees a similar-looking woman in the same contraption, but he recognizes that she's different, saying that using the same character model is common in video games. The woman asks if he is leaving the island and tells him to give his destination from a list of 50 ports. He asks for Dolle Harbor, and the woman reminds him that the data in his free slots will vanish once he leaves. She transports him to his destination, and he doesn't feel any difference compared to inside the game, but when he tries to summon his book, nothing happens. He sees a sign with the date and realizes that three months really have passed. He finds a place with a computer and printer, completing the application and learning that the exam will be in Beeskafmarro. He isn't sure where it is and decides to find a place to take a shower before making his way to the Lone Pine.

Back in Greed Island, Gon and Biscuit hear something approaching and suddenly see someone arrive via spell card. It's revealed to be Abengane, and he notes that Gon's friend isn't with them. Biscuit seems startled and asks what the device on his shoulder is. Abengane says that the Bomber got them, asking Gon and Biscuit to listen to what he has to say.
