Embarkment (()(どう)()()()()()()()(), Shidō) is the 150th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis

Gon unveils his Paper attack, shooting a small burst of aura from his palm as Killua watches. He then sets up a twig between two rocks and uses his Scissors attack to cut the twig in two, rejoicing after it works. Killua asks him if it's his first time doing it, but Gon says that it's his fifth. Killua asks him how many times he's failed, and Gon says that his rate is getting better (one in ten now). Killua asks him if he really has to yell "show me rock," "jan," and "ken" every time, and Gon says that it wouldn't be a special attack otherwise, but Killua points out that he's telling his opponent when he's going to attack and leaving himself vulnerable. Gon nonchalantly replies that he will just dodge their attacks and then say it, but Killua angrily asks him what he will do if he can't, and Gon repeats that he will still say it.

Killua confronts Biscuit and asks if she's okay with his strategy, and while she has some issues, she stresses that it's important for Gon to like it and adds that it gives him options, which makes the ability both flexible and effective. She is confident that it will be a strong ability once he improves, asking Killua what he will do with his ability. Killua pulls something out of his pocket and shows it to Biscuit, who says that it and his electricity will be a good weapon. Killua adds that he has been thinking of several ways to use them. Biscuit gets their attention, and Gon thinks that they're doing more basic training, but she says that it's time to play the game.

Chap 150 - Killua visualizing the power of Gon's punch

Killua visualizing the power of Gon's punch

The three journey to an enormous tree and a man holding a large hammer tells them that the King White Stag Beetle lives there, adding that the only way to catch one is to knock it out of the tree around dusk. He shows them the spot where people usually strike the tree and says that only seven people have been successful out of the thousands who have tried. Biscuit tells him to go all out since no one is around. The man asks Gon if he wants to use the hammer, but Gon approaches the base of the tree and begins charging up a Rock. As Killua envisions his punch as a wrecking ball, Gon strikes the tree and causes dozens of bugs to rain down, including three of the legendary beetles. They collect the cards, and the man says that it's the first time he has seen someone get three with one strike, and Gon reveals that he actually held back since he was worried that he would hurt the tree.

Killua thinks that they should go back to collect more to use for trading, but after they shake out more of the beetles, none of them turn into cards (with Killua guessing that the other seven players had the same idea). The three then head to a mansion where a girl is being held captive. The guard denies it at first, but says that they will be killed by countless traps if they try to find her. Soon after, Killua easily evades the traps and rescues the girl, collecting her card and that of the guard.

Biscuit then leads them south from the Starting Point and says that there are three cards at Dorias. They wonder how she learned all this, and she replies that she was hard at work while they were training, making use of her unsuspecting appearance to gather information. Gon and Killua suddenly remember that the monthly tournament in Antokiba is tomorrow and make their way there, with both of them eventually winning and receiving the "Paladin's Necklace." They aren't exactly sure what it does, so they head to a trade shop where the shopkeeper explains that the necklace casts "Reflect" on someone as long as it's being worn and allows them to revert cards cursed by "Clone" or "Fake" by touching them.

Gon wonders why it's D-rank if they can only get it once a year, but Killua checks his notes on spell cards and says that it's also possible to get it using "Compromise" and "Corruption." Gon turns the card into the necklace and puts it on, with all three rejoicing as they make their way to Dorias. Gon and Killua easily collect the three cards there, but Biscuit happily says to herself that it was only easy because of their hard work over three months.
