Synopsis[]
Gon, Killua, and Biscuit check all the specified slot cards they have collected so far: one "Memory Helmet", three "Witch's Love Potions", four "Risky Dice", three "King White Stag Beetles", three "Gold Dust Girls", and one "Paladin's Necklace" for a total of 15 cards. As they plan to put some of their duplicates to good use, Gon's book suddenly opens. He's told that another player has cast "Fluoroscopy" on him, which will cancel the effect of his "Blackout Curtain". Biscuit realizes that the people watching them are finally making a move, and Killua quickly tells Gon to cast another "Blackout Curtain". But as Gon activates the card, he's told that another player has cast "Contact" on him. The player says hello, but Gon says that he doesn't know him. He reminds Gon that he was the one who took the "Sword of Truth" from him at Antokiba.
The player states that he wants to trade with them, impressed by Gon's improvement and the number of cards he's collected. He lists two cards they're willing to trade and gives them one minute to decide. Killua speaks up and asks if he's calling because he saw them win yesterday, wondering if he always hangs around Antokiba. The player answers that he only goes there on the 15th of every month, saying that he is in Dorias as well. Killua tries to ask more questions, but the player wants to move things along, asking what cards they have to trade. They give their list, and the player says that he will take "Witch's Love Potion," telling them to meet him 500 meters northwest of Dorias in 20 minutes. The two groups of three meet, and Gon asks for "Book of V.I.P. Passes." The two swap cards and the other players leave.
Gon, Killua, and Biscuit are surprised at how smooth the trade went, with Gon excited that they got seven types in three days. They wonder if there are any more cards to get in Dorias, and Biscuit tells them that one is available by getting three sevens at the slots, but points out that the odds of winning are 1 in 10,000 and each turn costs 50. Killua realizes how much luck and risk are involved, but suddenly realizes that they can make use of the Risky Dice. He gets one from Gon and rolls it, then playing the slot machine and getting three sevens on his first try.
They win the "Rainbow Diamond" card, and Killua realizes that the dice are the key to winning in Dorias. Biscuit reminds him about the "worst luck" scenario (if someone rolls a skull), but Killua gives all his cards to Gon just in case something goes wrong. Gon becomes worried, but Killua assures him that it's only a 5% chance and that he wouldn't die anyway. But right on cue, they hear an explosion and see that a slot machine has blown up in front of another player who was on a winning streak while using a weird die.
Gon and Biscuit try to get Killua to stop, but Killua keeps using it and defeats the Casino King in poker, obtaining the "Fledgling Gambler" card. Gon tells him that it's time to stop, but Killua just wants to try once more. Biscuit quickly hits him on the back of the neck and knocks him out. As Gon carries the unconscious Killua and says that they should sell the extra dice, the group heads to the next town and completes a variety of tasks to collect "Fledgling CEO," "Doyen's Growth Pills," and "Staff of Judgment."
They celebrate after collecting their 50th card in only a month, but Killua says that things will only get harder since the cards they've collected so far have been A-rank or less, adding that it's hard to even find information about S-rank and above. He says that they will need to use "Guidepost" to learn where the cards are and then to ask around after that, but he also says that they can use the Risky Dice and "Lottery," which Gon and Biscuit quickly veto. Since they only have one "Guidepost" card, the group heads to Masadora to buy more spell cards.
After reaching the city with an "Accompany" card, they buy card packs and receive 100 spell cards of 29 types. Gon wonders why they've been able to convert every item they've collected into cards when hundreds of people are playing the game. He gives the example of B-rank specified slot cards having a limit of around 30 and says that others should have collected them first. Killua says that it could mean fewer than 30 people (or teams) can compete, adding that most players have trouble even getting to Masadora and then can't make it back to the real world.
Gon says that it's tragic that they come all the way to Masadora and don't get a "Leave" card, and Killua suddenly gets the idea to trade "Leave" cards to those who want to leave the game in exchange for the rare cards they have gotten in card packs. The three stake out the spell card shop and ask a despondent player if he wants to go back to reality. They offer "Leave" cards to several players and obtain "Clone," "Holy Water," and other specified slot cards, celebrating as they bring their total to 57.
