Three-Way Struggle: Part 5 (
Summary[]
In the badlands, as Gon maintains his Ren and holds a stopwatch in his hand; Killua and Biscuit look through the list of players and see that Tsezguerra and his team left the game 10 days ago. Biscuit wonders what's going on and says that the three-week deadline passed five days ago. Killua adds that they will lose their card data if they don't return that day, telling Biscuit that they need to wait for Goreinu to contact them.
Gon stops the watch and celebrates, saying that he can do it perfectly every time and asking the two if he can go back to the Emission exercise. However, both Killua and Biscuit say that he needs a margin of error less than 0.1 seconds. As a disappointed Gon clicks the stopwatch again, Goreinu uses "Contact" on Killua and apologizes for not getting in touch sooner. Using a telescope in the distance, he reveals that Tsezguerra and the others probably won't be coming back since the Bombers are waiting at the Starting Point. He adds that they won't return unless he sends a messenger to their hideout, and Biscuit points out that Tsezguerra will lose all his card data. Goreinu says that he (Goreinu) has the rare cards, but Biscuit worries that Genthru used "Clairvoyance" to check their cards and saw that they weren't carrying any rare ones.
Outside the Starting Point, Sub says that Tsezguerra and his team will lose their card data if they don't return in the next five minutes. Genthru replies that they should wait to make sure that they don't make it back in time, and Bara wonders if the group would really quit. Sub points out that the four have been working together for 20 years, and Genthru notes that they gave up after their ambush plan failed, guessing that they ran away with Battera to keep them from getting the reward money. They say that they used "Clairvoyance" to check their cards and confirmed that they had the 96 among them. Bara wonders why Battera sent the soldiers away, but Genthru says that it would have been more of an issue if Tsezguerra had done so. After he tells the two that they should stop speculating, the five minutes pass and the three celebrate their victory over Tsezguerra. Genthru pulls out an "Accompany" card and tells them that it's time to get "Plot of Beach" from the kids. Sub and Bara agree that they should head to Masadora first to buy more "Accompany" cards, with the three rocketing toward the city soon after.
Goreinu reveals to Killua that they used "Fake" on around 30 of the 96 cards and that he is carrying all 96 (as well as "Voucher" and the Blue Planets waiting to be converted). He says that he wants Tsezguerra's gamble to pay off and tells Killua that he won't be able to help them in their fight against Genthru. Killua understands and asks him when he wants to pick up "Wild Luck Alexandrite." Goreinu replies that it can wait until after they beat Genthru, wishing the three of them good luck before suddenly seeing Genthru and his team rocket away from the Starting Point.
Goreinu quickly asks Killua where they are, and Killua says that they're near Soufrabi. Goreinu guesses that the Bombers are heading to Masadora to stock up on cards, warning Killua that they will head for them soon and asking if his hands have recovered. Killua replies that they are good thanks to them, but Biscuit says to herself that his hands didn't heal completely and their plan rests upon Gon. She gets Gon's attention and makes sure that he didn't get distracted during the call, asking him about the stopwatch. Gon first looks at the watch with a blank expression, but then turns it toward Killua and Biscuit with a smile on his face, showing the watch stopped at exactly one second. Both put on a smile, and Biscuit lets out a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, inside a hotel in an unknown city, Tsezguerra and the others ask the multi-billionaire why he gave up on clearing the game. Battera remains silent and Tsezguerra shows a photo he found in Battera's room. He wonders if the reason involves the young woman in the photo and asks if she is his daughter or granddaughter. Battera finally speaks and reveals that she was his fiancée, telling them that she was in a coma for a long time. He had hoped that she would wake up, but he painfully says that she passed away last month. Tsezguerra and his men listen intently, and Battera says that because she didn't want others to think she was after his money, she didn't want any expensive gifts (preferring things like the picture frame that Battera made himself).
Battera says that they were perfectly happy with just one another and that they had decided to give away all his wealth and get married, but she was in an accident that caused the coma. As he begins to weep, he says it looked like she was sleeping and that all the best doctors could do nothing but keep her on life support. With tears streaming down his face, he says that he heard about Greed Island one day and learned that he could acquire spells to heal and pills to make one young again if he could clear the game. He finally adds that he used his money and influence to keep details about the game a secret from the world, but he tells them that it's over since none of it matters anymore.
