Three-Way Struggle: Part 10 (
Summary[]
Genthru repeats to himself that he has to break Gon's spirit so he doesn't have the will to fight anymore. As the two stand opposite each other in the forest, Genthru knows that Gon won't admit defeat otherwise and says to himself that he will show him how meaningless effort and confidence are. He suddenly charges toward Gon and takes him off guard, grabbing his right wrist and using Little Flower to cause an explosion. Gon is unable to deflect the strike, but when the smoke clears, Gon smiles and his wrist is only slightly burned by the attack. Genthru realizes that Gon used Gyo to increase his defenses around the area right when he grabbed it, guessing that Gon has practiced it multiple times since his aura seems smoother.
Now irritated, Genthru makes another charge and says to himself that Gon shouldn't assume that his plan will work. He throws a flurry of punches and grabs Gon's wrist again, but instead of using Little Flower, he uses his other hand to punch Gon hard in the midsection. As Gon screams out and doubles over in pain, Genthru reminds him that using Gyo on his wrist leaves the rest of his body defenseless, telling him that all his practice backfired.
However, Gon rises to his feet and begins to chuckle, saying to himself that things are happening just as Biscuit said they would. Genthru becomes even more irritated and says that he will wipe the smile off Gon's face, charging toward him and throwing another flurry of punches. He grabs Gon's left wrist as if he's going to use Little Flower, but again punches Gon in the midsection. This time, however, Gon seems much less affected by the strike and throws a punch back, which a confused Genthru dodges. He wonders how Gon was able to fight back when the second punch to his midsection was harder than the first. He realizes that Gon didn't use Gyo on his wrist but used his normal defenses, asking himself if Gon just guessed correctly. When he sees Gon's determined face, he knows that Gon knew exactly what he was doing.
Gon then thinks back to his training with Biscuit in the badlands before the fight, asking her how Genthru doesn't burn himself with his own explosions. She replies that he envelops his hand in more aura than he uses for the explosion. As Killua bounces his yo-yo on his foot, Gon clarifies by asking if Genthru causes the explosion after he uses Gyo on his hands. Biscuit confirms this and says that he must have a considerable amount of aura to make it work. She uses the opportunity to practice with Gon, suddenly grabbing his wrist and causing him to use Gyo once she does. She praises his reaction time and repeats the exercise, but Gon notices that Biscuit used less aura the second time.
Biscuit praises him again and says that the fight will be easier if he can tell the difference. Gon wonders what she means, and Biscuit explains that Genthru uses Gyo on his hands when he activates Little Flower, but he aims elsewhere and doesn't use Gyo when he's only pretending to activate the ability. She says that if he can tell whether Genthru is protecting his hand with Gyo or not, he will be able to block and counter some of Genthru's attacks.
Back in the present, Genthru internally wonders if his own Gyo is the key to Gon's plan, recognizing that he doesn't use it if he doesn't plan to activate Little Flower. He stares menacingly at Gon and says that he will fight using Gyo on both hands from now on, suddenly enveloping both his hands in aura. He again tells Gon that his rushed strategy will backfire, saying that if he uses Little Flower on a body with insufficient defenses, the target's face will be blown off, the skin on their limbs will be burned off and the nerves and muscles damaged. He adds that the explosion will blow off fingers and that normal punches will damage bones and organs, with a strike to the head dealing brain damage. He assures Gon that it's impossible for him to use Gyo to defend against all his Gyo attacks, giving him the opportunity to surrender and saying that he has talent and potential.
As Genthru asks Gon if it's worth throwing those away for his pride, he internally calls Gon a maggot and tells him to give up. Gon remembers Biscuit's words about following the plan once Genthru starts to use Little Flower with both hands, but Gon apologizes to her and says that while it may be selfish, he has to improvise and follow his gut after coming up with a great idea. He readies to fight and in turn orders Genthru to surrender. Genthru sighs and guesses that Gon believes that he won't kill him since he needs the cards in his book. However, he says that he plans to teach Gon that there are fates worse than death, telling him that he will blow up both his arms with Little Flower. He tells him to protect with Gyo the one he wants to keep, adding that he will then blow up that remaining arm and his left leg. He adds that the same process will follow until only Gon's head is left. As Gon angrily dares Genthru to try it, the Bomber quickly leaps toward him with both hands outstretched.
