Chap 214 - The King killing a child

The King killing a child

The King and his Royal Guards continue moving away from the Chimera Ant Nest, and the former spots three humans working in a field. Dropping down, he slowly approaches a man and woman and beheads them both with a single swipe of his tail, laughing at how easily he could kill them. He takes a bite out of their flesh and immediately spits it out, complaining about how bland it is. Neferpitou approaches and informs him that the brain is the most delicious part of the human body, telling him that it would be best to kill without harming the head. The King takes this into account and kills the child, who was too shocked to run away and screams out in fear as the King's tail strikes her in the abdomen. Pitou applauds his kill, and the King eats a bit of her brain, agreeing that it was a bit tastier, but spits it out, saying that it still doesn't compare to the flesh of rare humans.

Pitou tries to give him more advice, this time about how to distinguish the rare humans from the rest, but the King suddenly strikes them hard across the face with his tail. He warns Pitou to not take him as a fool and informs them that he already knows that it's possible to see the energy around the body by focusing the eyes. Pitou quickly apologizes, and the King goes on to say that he finds pleasure in not knowing whether a human is rare until he takes a bite. He says that his hunger is satisfied for now and commends Pitou's strength, revealing that he had struck them with the intention to kill.

Chap 214 - Hagya and the others ready to leave the nest

Hagya and the others ready to leave the nest

Back inside the nest, Bihorn is still shocked at how the King killed and ate his own kind. Small Bear states that the King is an entirely different creature from the rest of the Ants and that he probably considers everything aside from himself as his prey. Cheetu ponders out loud what they should do next, saying that it would be meaningless for them to continue staying in the nest if the Queen dies. The other Squadron Leaders walk in, and both Hagya and Zazan point out that staying has already become pointless since the Queen has lost her ability to reproduce. Furthermore, with the Queen no longer able to maintain her kingdom, Hagya suggests that they should all split up and individually try to become kings. Bihorn gets enraged by this idea and snaps at Hagya, questioning if he thought that he would be left free to do as he pleases. Hagya is silently supported by the other Squadron Leaders, revealing that the only ones still loyal to the Queen are Bihorn and Small Bear.

In the meantime, Colt desperately begs Morel and Knov to save the Queen, reasoning that if she dies, the other Ants will no longer be tied together. Knov asks him the specifics of what would happen, and Colt replies that they would try to build kingdoms of their own, saying that the Ants would spread out and destroy local ecosystems. Morel asks if the soldier Ants can reproduce, and Knov confirms that they can forcibly mate with the females of other species, saying that there have been reports that when a Queen dies, the soldier Ants will leave the nest and begin reproducing. He doubts that Colt is lying to them, and Morel asks for his name. Colt quickly answers, and Morel says that they will take him to see their leader and that he will tell him the same story. However, he tells Colt that he can't guarantee that their leader will believe his story or, if he does believe it, spare his life. Colt does not hesitate and urges the two Hunters to hurry. As Knov opens his portal, he reminds Morel that their apprentices are supposed to arrive soon. Morel says that he almost forgot that he bet 100k on Knuckle and Shoot making it, while Knov bet a million on all five of them.

Chap 214 - Killua seeing Gon's frustration

Killua seeing Gon's frustration

Elsewhere, Gon, Killua, Shoot, and Knuckle arrive at NGL's border stop. Looking despondent, Gon gets Knuckle's attention and begs him to promise to save Kite and bring him back. Knuckle confidently says that they will, swearing on the complete token. Knuckle and Shoot leave the two boys, and with I.R.S. resting on his shoulder, Gon says that he's weak, suddenly breaking down into tears. Killua looks on in silence, and Gon begins to sob, realizing how frustrating weakness can be and causing Killua to cry as well. On the drive back to the city, Gon sits huddled up in silence, and Killua says to himself that no matter what happens, he will do anything to protect Gon for the 30 days that he can't use Nen. But he says that, in accordance with his agreement with Biscuit, the two of them will part ways after that.
