9: Part 2 (9—②, Kyū (Ni)) is the 231st chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis[]

Killua tells Gon that he will text him later, apologizing for being on edge. As the two continue walking through the forest, a hidden figure observes them from a distance. They can tell that the boys aren't citizens, considering them young to be spies, but recognizing their strength and wondering if they could be here to assassinate the King. They worry about making a move against both of them, especially Killua, who they consider to have the potential of a Squadron Leader. Suddenly, Killua looks back at the hidden figure, but seems to think it's nothing, and he and Gon go their separate ways. The figure is astounded that Killua could still feel his presence even though he had removed all traces, gleefully adding that they're fine with it.

Chap 231 - Morel and Knov talking with Marcos

Morel and Knov talking with Marcos

In a large city, Marcos asks Morel and Knov if they're sure they can give him and his family asylum. Knov assures him that everything is arranged, as long as he signs the paperwork and gives them the necessary military information. In turn, Marcos assures them he will uphold his end of the agreement and tell them all about Ming Jol-ik's crimes. While Morel thanks him aloud, he thinks to himself that Marcos isn't innocent in all this, since he's only living in such a nice place and drinking such expensive wine because he followed orders. Knov gives him a stern look to let him know how important the information is. Morel understands, telling Marcos to continue his normal routine and that he and his family will be on a beach in two weeks.

Sitting together high up in a tree, Knuckle and Shoot argue about what to do regarding the selection process. Knuckle says he can't just look away while millions of people are killed, with already 495,000 dead. Shoot, however, reminds him that if they don't stick to the plan, billions will die. If the Royal Guards discover what they're doing, they will be unable to separate them from the King, and Netero will be unable to defeat him. Shoot tells him to repress his emotions for the sake of humanity and to blame him if that's what it takes. Knuckle seems to give in, and Shoot says they have to risk their own lives to succeed.

Snake Chimera

Snake ambushing Gon

Gon sits alone at the base of a tree, eating a fruit and hoping Killua is okay. He notes how weird he was acting and thinks they should have stayed together, but knows he would get angry if he tried to follow him. Gon seems to notice something as a single leaf slowly falls from the tree, and suddenly an enormous Chimera Ant Snake appears behind him, wrapping up the tree with its body and causing it to crash to the ground. Gon quickly dodges out of the way and Snake compliments his skill, but quickly uses his tail as a spring and begins leaping through the trees, eventually wrapping up and immobilizing Gon. Snake is confident that he can crush him, but Gon easily escapes and punches him unconscious, wrapping him around a tree with his own tail.

Believing that Snake has the genes of a python, Gon says that he can live without food for over a week. He thinks he may need to hide better since they found him so fast, but then remembers that some snakes are able to see the heat their prey gives off, even in darkness, using it to detect the target's size and the distance to them. Gon then wonders why they have soldier Ants stationed in an area where the sorting is already finished and considers that they're acting as guards close to the border. He suddenly hears something and is sent reeling from an unknown attack. Looking up into the darkness, he sees an Owl and a Bat. The hidden figure from before continues to observe, curiously asking what Gon will do in a fight against two.
