8: Part 6 (8—⑥, Hachi (Roku)) is the 240th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis[]

The end of the darts game approaches, but the older brother insists on not letting Killua know, though says that if he started to beg for his life, it would help him focus even more. But he adds that if he started uttering cliche lines (e.g., "Get it over with"), it would piss him off to the point where he might make a mistake, so he decides it's best if he dies in ignorance. Another fish dart pierces Killua's left arm and sends him to the ground. He quickly recovers, but the following two send him back down reeling in pain. He begins to worry about the blood loss and that he might die unless he tries out his plan.

Chap 240 - Killua preparing for the final round

Killua preparing for the final round

As the brother readies his first shot for the final round, Killua begins using electricity while kneeling on the ground. The first fish dart goes through his left ear, and the sister offers a sarcastic remark about him not needing to get it pierced now. With the second shot piercing his right calf, the brother prepares for the final dart and his sister says she trusts him. The dart hits the part of the board corresponding to Killua's head, and the siblings begin to celebrate their victory, happily high-fiving each other.

The final fish dart is shown in Killua's forehead as he slowly collapses to the ground and lies on his back. Believing Killua to be dead, the siblings leave their hideout at the bottom of the Underground Lake and approach his body, congratulating each other on their victory. The brother contacts Flutter and tells him that the target is dead. Flutter commends them and says that he will ask Leol (at first using his old name, Hagya) to promote them. The sister is ecstatic that they may become assistant Squadron Leaders, and the brother gives her all the credit.

Killua kill ortho

Killua decapitating both siblings

While the two are in the middle of high-fiving again, Killua suddenly appears and instantly decapitates both Chimera Ants. Their severed heads are left stunned, and the brother is in disbelief at how Killua survived the final shot that pierced his brain. He reveals that he replaced the final dart's tip with a sucker from one of Ikalgo's severed tentacles, but the brother still doesn't understand how he blocked the shot. Killua tells him he didn't block it, but simply grabbed it the very moment it came into existence and punctured his skin. And he guessed that the siblings could only hear him, so it allowed him to set up the trap with the fish dart and Ikalgo's sucker to lure the two into thinking he was dead.

The brother is still in disbelief, saying that he would have needed light-speed reflexes to grab it. Killua, however, tells him that he knew exactly where the last dart would strike. He surmised that the brother was going to "double out", where the last dart has to land in the outer ring. He also guessed that he was playing 501-up, where the player starts with 501 points and plays until they reach exactly zero. The brother wonders how he knew what game was being played, and Killua says he immediately knew when he discovered that his ability was based on darts. He continues to explain how he calculated his throws based on that knowledge, saying that he simply had to ready his hand near his forehead and concentrate on grabbing the fish dart.

But it's stated that Killua left out the fact that he had changed his aura into electricity to increase his reflex speed. It's explained that instead of waiting for the nerves on his skin to feel the fish, which would send that signal to his brain and then for his brain to relay the command to his hand, he had the aura around his left hand send an electric signal straight to the muscles and grab the fish dart at the exact moment the aura felt it. The brother can't believe Killua's skill at darts and asks him how long he's been playing. Killua replies that he achieved a perfect score in count-up when he was six (or maybe seven).
