7: Part 2 (7—②, Nana (Ni)) is the 243rd chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis[]

Still holding on to Gon's hand, Meleoron activates his third ability as aura envelops the two of them. After pointing out a bird sitting on a nearby branch and leading Gon toward it, he pokes the bird with a cigarette and directs Gon to touch it. Gon wonders why the bird isn't reacting when he touches it with his finger, but after Meleoron stops holding his breath, the bird immediately flies up toward the night sky. Gon realizes that he was using Perfect Plan too, and Meleoron explains that his third ability, God's Accomplice, allows someone else to use Perfect Plan as long as he's touching them while using it.

Chap 243 - Meleoron telling Gon his plan to defeat the King

Meleoron telling Gon his plan to defeat the King

A nervous look comes over Gon's face, and Meleoron says that the combination of their abilities will allow them to defeat the King with a single punch. He admits that earlier he told Hollow and Bat where Gon was, so he could see the strength of his ability, telling him not to feel bad about hurting them since they were killing behind Meleoron's back. He adds that he doesn't consider either of them comrades anymore and guesses that they probably think he was the one who changed, calmly blowing rings of smoke as Gon looks unsure.

Gon mentions that he has a more qualified partner in mind for Meleoron, but as he goes to call him, Meleoron quickly stops him and says that while he completely trusts Gon, he isn't sure about any of Gon's comrades since he doesn't know them. Gon reluctantly understands, and Meleoron stresses the fact that he's putting his own life on the line, especially given that Perfect Plan isn't invincible. Since he can still be hit, he says that if the enemy knew that someone with his ability was around, they would start attacking in every direction to strike him. Gon quickly realizes his point, and Meleoron continues by saying that he's one of the weaker Chimera Ants, unable to take one hit from the Squadron Leaders, let alone the King. He tells Gon that he can be detected with En when he's invisible and that he told the other Squadron Leaders that that was the extent of his ability, explaining that his ability is only invincible when no one else knows the truth.

Meleoron stresses that he doesn't want any of Gon's comrades to know how it works, but Gon says he will call this person over, not telling him about the situation, and Meleoron can watch from a distance to see how trustworthy he is. Knuckle loudly answers the call and says he was waiting to hear any news, adding that what he and Killua did put Morel into action. He says they decided that they couldn't let five million people die and that Morel used his ability to surround Peijin, which will prevent Pitou from using the puppets to perform remote sorting. Gon is happy to hear it, but Knuckle explains that since Morel and Knov are giving it their all to stop Pitou, they may not have enough to take on the other Royal Guards.

Chap 243 - Netero preparing for the invasion

Netero preparing for the invasion

He tells Gon that the country's citizens are still making their way toward the capital, with the threat of genocide still very possible. And since they're unable to get in contact with Netero, who is shown sitting atop a tall cliff with a menacing glare and focusing his energy for the invasion, Knuckle says that he, Gon, Killua, and Shoot will make the decision either to send for reinforcements or to fight the Royal Guards on their own. He asks what Killua thinks about the situation, but Gon tells him they split up and that his phone is off. Knuckle tells him to keep trying to call Killua, and that they all should meet up soon near Mandai City.

In the palace, the King is shown playing a game of shogi against the national champion. He declares checkmate and asks the frightened man why he didn't concede defeat. The man seems unsure, and the King quickly swipes away his left ear as the man yells out in pain. The King says that the match was over 22 moves ago, wondering if the man didn't give in because he was waiting for him to make a mistake. The man panics and runs away from the shogi board, but the King calmly swipes him with his tail, leaving a bloody mess on the floor.

Pouf kneels beside the King and tells him that the national champion of Go is ready. The King asks for the rulebook, and Pouf explains that Go seems simple, but may take longer to master than shogi. Youpi appears leading the man by the top of his head as he pleads for help. Youpi drops him to the floor and Pouf silences him in the King's presence. The terrified Go champion sees the beheaded man lying on the floor, and the King gives him a choice: he can either sit down and play or die.
