Terms ((じょう)(けん)()()()()()()()(), Jōken) is the 289th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis[]

Right as Youpi finishes his strike, Morel completely disappears, though with some of his blood on Youpi's blade. Youpi is confused at first, but remembers that one of them may have the ability to teleport. However, he saw no one else around, and if Morel himself had teleported away, he wouldn't have been able to draw any blood. He guesses that he turned invisible somehow, surmising that one of his comrades has the ability to make others invisible as well.

He looks at the blood on his blade, and knows that the wound he inflicted is deep. And then suddenly, he notices a trail of blood leading away, as Meleoron is shown using God's Accomplice on the wounded Morel, working as hard as he can to get him to safety. Meleoron realizes Youpi can see the blood, and knows he will have to leave Morel behind if Youpi strikes again. But Youpi sees something out of the corner of his eye, and Meleoron turns to look as well: Knuckle appears and decides to face Youpi alone, sweat pouring down his face, if Youpi will let them escape. Meleoron is in disbelief that he didn't stick to the plan of staying hidden to let A.P.R. bankrupt Youpi.

Chap 289 - Knuckle saving Morel's life

Knuckle saving Morel's life

It's revealed that Knuckle risked using words because he had been so affected by Youpi's own to Morel. Youpi laughs and rejects the proposed deal, but agrees to consider it if Knuckle gets rid of A.P.R. for him. Morel yells for Knuckle not to take the deal, though his cry is unheard because of God's Accomplice. However, it causes Meleoron to realize what he should do next, and he proceeds to let go of Morel, leaving Knuckle in shock. Morel begs Knuckle to leave him there, as Youpi slowly approaches with his blade drawn. By letting go of Morel, Meleoron had hoped that Knuckle would be affected by Morel's words and not waste everything he had risked to get to that point. But as he runs toward Knuckle, Meleoron's hopes are dashed as A.P.R. suddenly breaks apart in the air, with Hakoware deactivated by Knuckle.

Meleoron and Morel are left speechless, both aware that they now have no way to defeat Youpi. With tears streaming down Knuckle's face, it's stated that he decided to give in to Youpi's deal because seeing Morel covered in blood had reminded him of Shoot, causing his will to instantly fall apart. He orders Youpi to leave Morel and screams at him to kill him, but Youpi quickly leaps above him and lands on the other side, refusing to do so.

The three are in disbelief, especially Knuckle, and Youpi says he's going to the King, jokingly asking Knuckle if he wants to join him. He says if Meleoron's ability isn't teleportation, then they better get Morel to a hospital before the deal they made ends up being pointless. He shrugs off Knuckle's look of shock and says they can come after him anytime they want, prepared to stomp them down and wanting to fight them as equals. He charges off in anger, and it's stated that Youpi should have killed them all where they stood since his top priority was protecting the King. And the fact that he didn't bother Youpi in a way, unlike his previous rage. It's further stated that Youpi had learned how incredible Nen was from the enemy, and once his individuality awakened and he discovered how to store his rage elsewhere, he could no longer see things in such simple terms. Youpi scolds himself, saying he sounds like Pouf, and wonders what to do with his compartmentalized rage since he doesn't feel like using it on the three he spared. As Youpi is left unsure whether the change in him is a sign of maturity, Knuckle stands dumbfounded, feeling completely defeated.
