Observation (
Synopsis[]
As Kurapika gathers everyone together and begins his Nen class, the Silent Majority marionette stands at the back of the room. The user notes that the lesson is being conducted in the master bedroom behind Kurapika to ensure Woble and Oito's safety (which the user expected). Kurapika points out a line of white tape that he has laid on the floor, telling them not to cross it at any time and saying that anyone who does may be asked to leave or even subject to lethal force without warning. The user notes that only they and Loberry (currently being possessed) can see Silent Majority's marionette, confident that none of the attendees will risk being thrown out given the mission's importance.
But right on cue, Myuhan purposely steps over the line to irritate Kurapika, who calmly asks for his name and post. Danjin gets Myuhan to answer, and he gives his name and says that he's a guard for the Fourth Prince. Kurapika drops the roll of tape and gives him one last warning, sternly telling him to step back. Myuhan feigns ignorance and slowly obeys, promising that he won't do it again and hoping that Kurapika will uphold his promise to teach them Nen. The others look on anxiously, and Kurapika assures them that he will meet his promised timeline of two weeks. He speaks to Myuhan directly and calls out his hostile nature, saying that it's a reflection of his leader before he breaks off. Myuhan becomes enraged and begins to move forward, but Danjin quickly stops him. Kurapika now has his gun drawn and finishes his statement, which ended up being a compliment, and he tells Myuhan that that's why he should wait for people to finish speaking. Danjin agrees and apologizes on Myuhan's behalf.
The Silent Majority user didn't expect Myuhan to lash out, saying that even though everyone was watching him, he wasn't one of the ten within range. They explain that if the marionette is deactivated without killing anyone, the curse will rebound to them. But they say that they will take the risk and kill someone early, preparing their curse snakes to attack as four pairs of eyes are seen hiding in the darkness. As Kurapika asks everyone to introduce themselves, Furykov analyzes him in great detail, saying that he held his gun in his left hand to keep his dominant hand free, which is typical of Conjurers and Manipulators. He notes the strong Ten around his right hand and guesses that he's a Conjurer after noticing the smoothness of his overall aura. He explains that for Enhancers and Transmuters, the Ten around the body part they use for their attack is dimmer the more skilled they are, adding that Manipulators and Emitters have a greater volume of aura which becomes darker if they try to hold it back.
Confident in his analysis, Furykov guesses that Kurapika has the ability to force a confession, wondering what Babimyna's assessment of him was. Slakka comments on the fact that there always seems to be one troublemaker and Kurapika stands at the entrance to the bedroom as the attendees continue to introduce themselves. Bill was told by Kurapika that Babimyna stopped using En and that he should help Oito develop an ability in time. Bill asks her what she feels, but she only senses a tiny bit of pressure between her fingers. Bill guesses that she's about average and thinks she will be the type to take her time, telling her aloud to continue.
Furykov approaches Babimyna and asks him why he released his En, with Babimyna quickly replying that it's none of his business. Furykov asks for his report of the enemy's power, and Babimyna says that Kurapika is undoubtedly the central figure, guessing that he's a Manipulator or Conjurer and that he has multiple abilities in addition to being able to force confessions. Furykov asks for his countermeasures, but Babimyna says that he isn't ready since he still hasn't seen Woble's Nen beast and doesn't know Bill's ability. Furykov asks him for a timeline, and Babimyna says after the next banquet.
Silent Majority is seen behind Babimyna, and the user says that once someone draws everyone's attention again, they will begin their attack. The 16 attendees finish their introductions, and Kurapika asks if anyone already knows how to use Nen, telling them to raise their hand. Furykov and Belerainte both raise their hands and as Loberry wonders why they're attending if they can use it already, she spots Silent Majority at the back of the room, staring at it in confusion. The user is delighted and says that Loberry just needs to attract everyone's attention. As Kurapika explains that the two of them will judge his teaching and offer any advice they have, Furykov realizes that the other four Nen users who are hiding that fact are planning to keep up the act. He notices Loberry staring at something, but when he looks back, he doesn't see anything. Loberry asks Yuri who the woman is, but Yuri can't see anything either. Loberry becomes exasperated and yells out about the weird woman, pointing everyone to look at her.
Everyone is confused by Loberry's outburst since nothing is there, but once their attention is focused on the spot, Silent Majority begins its attack, and Barrigen suddenly falls to the floor with both hands around his neck, acting as if he's being strangled. The others crowd around him to help, and someone notices something white wrapped around his neck. The life begins to drain from his face, leaving the other attendees in disbelief.
The user explains that Silent Majority has four snakes in total and that if all four attacks at once, they can drain the body of blood in 11 seconds. The snakes are seen wrapped around his neck and arms, each with small mouths all down their chests. Sakata quickly draws a gun and shoots at the snakes on Barrigen's body. He tells the others to stay back since there could be more inside him. Halkenburg's guards are left stunned by the incident, and Belerainte approaches the body, saying that he wanted to check if he was still alive and that Sakata is the one who killed him. But Sakata says that he was already dead from the snakes, saying that they need to contact the Royal Army.
Kurapika notes Sakata's use of a handgun and believes that Gyo won't be enough to stay unharmed. As Kurapika continues to analyze the situation, Babimyna watches him and recognizes his calmness, adding that he must have realized that the snakes weren't a Nen beast from any of the Princes. Yuri checks on Loberry and asks her about the weird woman, but Loberry looks around and doesn't see her anymore. Halkenburg's guards wonder if it was meant to keep them from learning Nen and if it was a Nen beast from one of the Princes that didn't send anyone. Still thinking to himself, Kurapika worries about finding the assassin hiding among the group.
Chapter Notes[]
- The only ones who can see Silent Majority's marionette are its user and the one possessed by it.
- The marionette has a range of ten people to choose its possessed target from.
- If Silent Majority deactivates without killing anyone, its "curse" will rebound to the user.
- Furykov figures out through minute differences and sheer talent that Kurapika is a Conjurer who uses his right hand to activate his ability.
- Queen Oito (8th) starts training her Nen with Bill.
- Babimyna comes to the conclusion that Kurapika is hiding other abilities besides "forcing confessions;" the one he stated through Vincent's earpiece to trick Prince Benjamin (1st) that he's a Manipulator.
- He also figures out that the ability used to capture the cockroach wasn't Bill's.
- Silent Majority's four snakes suck out the blood out of Barrigen's body, subsequently killing him in a similar manner to the five royal guards from Chapter 359, disproving the theory of Woble's Guardian Spirit Beast being responsible.
- Kurapika claims that Gyo isn't enough to remain unscathed from 9mm Lugers used by the Third Prince's guards.
