The Dragon Vein (
Overview[]
The Dragon Vein is the objective goal of the main antagonist Zegin Highline from the Hunter × Hunter: Altar of Dragon Vein game. However, it is locked behind a door in the Forest Ruins. As such, he seeks out the two rings necessary to enter. Prior to the modern understanding of Nen, it was known as 'Ki' instead. According to Feng Shui's studies, Ki gathers in well raised soil full of nutrients.[1]
The vein itself is the converging flow of energy within the Earth's rivers, that being in the Forest Ruins. It resembles a teal orb of light. According to Zegin, there are multiple Dragon Veins throughout the world. Ancient shaman would sacrifice themselves at altars in order to take the Earth's aura. This would thus allow them to have vastly improved abilities and to regenerate their bodies from the veins themselves.[1]

Altar of Dragon Vein[]
Note: Events occurring in Altar of Dragon Vein do not constitute canon material. Furthermore, some events may slightly differ depending on the current player character.
At Zegin's Mansion, Gon and Kurapika head for his office upstairs. There, a speaker is heard. The voice introduces himself as Zegin and reveals he once was a Pro Hunter. He notes that, from the group seeking out the ruins' secrets as well, they are enemies. He claims to want 'Freedom' and the 'Dragon Vein' within the ruins.[1]
After the duo escapes, they return to the airship. There, Romaria tells the group about Feng Shui's studies and the Dragon Vein. She suspects that the Forest Ruins act as a storehouse for energy, which Zegin later confirms.[1]
After unlocking the entrance at the Forest Ruins, Zegin heads for the altar itself. He then awaits for Sabaki and Amane to appear. However, only Sabaki appears. The duo proceeds to talk about their current circumstances. However, when Sabaki lies about Amane's whereabouts, Zegin calls him out for this, knowing he betrayed them both. At this, Sabaki reveals his true intentions to Zegin. He then attempts to kill him. However, he survives the attack. This is because the nearby Dragon Vein replenishes him with the Earth's aura. Zegin then proceeds to knock Sabaki unconscious.[1]
Once the Hunter group arrives, Zegin preaches to them regarding his motives. A fight then breaks out. However, as Zegin heals himself with Dragon Vein, Sabaki briefly awakens. Sabaki proceeds to destroy the Dragon Vein permanently before being knocked out. This allows for the Hunter group to put an end to Zegin once and for all properly. As his body lands on the ground, the altar begins to collapse. Thus, the group escapes whilst carrying Sabaki.[1]
