Dwun (ドゥーン, Dūn) is one of the Game Masters and creators of Greed Island. His actual name was Wdwune, until Ging decided to change it to Dwun so that his initial could be used as one of the the Ds in G.R.E.E.D. I.S.L.A.N.D.[1]
Appearance[]
Dwun has shaggy hair and wears untidy clothes. He has a big smile and always seems to have a cigarette in his mouth. He also seems to be missing one tooth.[1]
Personality[]
Dwun is a smoker and lives in a room that looks like a small rubbish dump. His room's untidiness makes it rather difficult for him to search for and find items. He seems very spontaneous and easily angered, but tends to cool down quickly. While he is friends with Ging, Dwun still holds a rather friendly, long-term grudge against him.[1]
Background[]
At some point in his life, he met and befriended Ging. Dwun and the other Game Masters created Greed Island together[1] and released it in 1987.[2] During the creation of Greed Island, Ging changed the official spelling of his name from Wdwune to Dwun.
Plot[]
Greed Island arc[]
List introduces Gon to Dwun in his room, which is a total garbage dump with a rancid smell. Since there is nowhere for Gon to sit down, Dwun moves around some garbage and clears a spot for him. He then rummages through a pile of garbage to find and present to Gon the last card in the game, "Ruler's Blessing". After informing Gon that his father isn't in Greed Island and that no one knows his whereabouts, he rummages through another garbage pile to find a case that can hold three cards. The case itself allows a player to take any three specified slot cards outside the game. As Gon ponders what cards he should take, Dwun asks him whether he wants the generic ending or the one specifically for him, but List reveals that Dwun is just messing around and that the latter doesn't exist.[1]
After clearing that up, List finally introduces himself and Dwun as friends of Ging. List also reveals that the Game Masters used the initials of each of their first names to create the game's title. List and Dwun are the L and one of the Ds, while Ging, Eta, Elena, and Razor respectively make up the G, two Es, and R of Greed Island. List also mentions that a parade will be held to celebrate Gon's achievement, adding that he will get to choose his three cards at the harbor and reach the ending of the game. Dwun then asks Gon if he wants to know more about Ging.[1]
Gon is eager to listen, but Dwun suddenly voices his resentment towards Ging and describes him as a really cruel guy. He explains that his name was once Wdwune, but he was forced to change it so that it could be made into one of the Ds in the game's title. List reveals that Ging was able to have it legally changed over the phone and Internet in less than a minute. While Dwun continues to go on a tirade about his name, List mentions that since his name change, his luck has improved. Dwun agrees and mentions that his health got better, he won the lottery, and he even got a girlfriend. Dwun then claims that the amount of letters in a person's name changes their luck, telling Gon to look it up. Dwun, List, and Gon then talk something over amongst themselves before Gon reunites with Killua and Biscuit outside the castle. Dwun is later seen dancing at the party held in Gon's honor for beating the game.[1]
13th Hunter Chairman Election arc[]
Dwun attends the first round of the 13th Hunter Chairman Election to vote for a new Chairman.[3] He visits Gon in the ICU of a hospital.[4] Dwun is seen as Ickshonpe Katocha gives his speech before the election's eighth round.[5] He and List both sit with Ging in the front row.[6] Before the top 4 candidates start their debate, Dwun acts laid back and waits for it to begin. After the eighth round, he is shown getting back into his seat next to Ging.[7] During the ninth round, when Gon appears in the auditorium in the Hunter Association where the election is being held, he and List are seen waving to Gon trying to get his attention, much to Ging's dismay.[8] When Gon spots Ging, Dwun and List smirk at Ging, who seemingly loathes the two for pointing him out.[9]
Abilities & Powers[]
Dwun has all the benefits granted by his status as a Hunter.
Nen[]
As a Hunter and a Game Master of Greed Island, he is able to use Nen. It was, however, never shown.
