Leorio, with Kurapika, continues for looking at his target. As the two discussed the situation of the badges such as even when a badge gets stolen they can still retrieve it back. The same goes for those who have completed six points, who still need to protect their badges before the exam ends. They move on and search for Ponzu, Leorio's target. Gon tracks down the scent of Ponzu, which eventually leads them to a small cave. As Leorio tries to get inside the cave alone he was halted by Kurapika who warns him that due to Ponzu's traps it's dangerous for him to go alone thus convincing him to stick together, however, Leorio insists that he needs to do this alone. Kurapika then sets a condition that if he did not return within thirty minutes they will go after him, Leorio declines but Gon being stubborn argues with Leorio resulting in Leorio agreeing with them. Leorio moves forward and enters the cave. Momentarily, while waiting for Leorio outside Gon and Kurapika hear Leorio screaming and then warning them to not enter the cave. Ignoring his warning the two rush into the cave and find Leorio suffering in pain while lying on the ground with a dead snake sliced into pieces near him.
