Summary[]

HxH2011 EP29 Wing continues his lesson

Wing continues his lesson

Wing's lesson continues into the night, and it's stated that Gon and Killua must learn Nen before midnight. Wing reveals that while the power of Nen dwells within every person, only a few are capable of using it and are considered geniuses, psychics, superhumans, etc. He explains that there are two ways to awaken the power: deliberately or aggressively (with Zushi having used the former). He adds that Zushi learned quickly and trained hard, allowing him to master Ten in six months.

Wing explains the process of awakening Nen

Killua quickly reminds him that they need to learn Ten and pass through Hisoka's barrier before midnight. Wing tells them that they will have to try the aggressive method, and Killua wonders if it will be fast enough. After explaining that the key is learning to contain their aura within their bodies, Wing tells the two that he will now direct his aura toward them, known as Hatsu, the same technique that he used to destroy the wall. With both Gon and Killua left worried, Wing assures them that he will restrain himself so he doesn't destroy their bodies. However, he warns them that the process of forcing open a person's aura nodes is dangerous since it usually takes months for someone to slowly open the nodes on their own. Although he reveals that it took someone as talented as Zushi three months to complete the process, he is confident that it would take Gon and Killua one week at most. He regrets that they have as little time as they do, but Killua points out that the quick method is always better. However, Wing seriously replies that this specific method is dangerous and usually avoided since they could die if the person using it were weak or evil.

Gon rightly points out that Wing is neither of the two, and Killua wonders why he suddenly decided to teach them the real four major principles. Wing replies that he didn't want to waste the opportunity since they would stand no chance if they were to compete above the 200th floor since every fighter there knows Nen. He then reveals that the veterans attack new fighters with Nen to awaken them without restraint and don't care if they die as a result, with the survivors sometimes becoming disfigured and maimed. However, he is confident that the method will awaken their power since they both have the necessary potential and ability. He then tells them to put down their belongings, take off their overshirts, and turn their backs toward him. They follow his instructions, and Wing holds his hands near both of their backs, with the two immediately feeling the heat and pressure. As Killua is reminded of Illumi's Nen (although a much weaker version), Wing begins the process and sends his aura through both their bodies, successfully opening all their aura nodes.

Gon and Killua now able to see aura

As a strange substance flows from them both, Wing explains that it's their aura (life energy). Gon likens it to smoke or steam rising out of a kettle, and Killua worries about so much of it leaving their bodies. Wing tells them that they will become tired if enough escapes and eventually collapse from fatigue if they expend all of it. He quickly gets their attention and tells them to concentrate on containing the aura within their bodies, asking them to close their eyes, visualize the aura flowing like blood through them, and picture it hovering around their bodies. The two immediately master the technique, leaving Zushi stunned and Wing in awe as he says to himself that they are incredible for realizing the most effective stance without needing to be told.

Gon and Killua learn to use Ten

Wing tells them to slowly open their eyes, and Gon describes the sensation as being surrounded by warm mucus, with Killua saying that he feels like he's wearing weightless clothes. Wing tells them to remember the feeling and that they will eventually be able to use Ten while sleeping. He then suddenly prepares to use hostile Nen against them, explaining that it would have been too painful for them to withstand it before. Killua understands his earlier blizzard analogy, and Wing assures them that if they can withstand the attack, they will be able to make it through Hisoka's barrier, suddenly sending out his aura as Gon and Killua are heard yelling.

Gon and Killua pass through Hisoka's barrier

Back on the 200th floor, Gon and Killua appear before Hisoka, who quickly sends out his Nen toward them. However, with both now using Ten, they confidently walk toward him and easily pass through his barrier. Hisoka dispels his Nen and welcomes them to the 200s, guessing that Gon came to Heavens Arena to train before challenging him. Gon replies that he didn't expect to find Hisoka there and that it saves him time, causing Hisoka to chuckle and tell Gon that he shouldn't become too confident now that he can use Ten. He reveals that they have much more to learn about Nen, holding up two fingers and creating various shapes using his aura. He tells Gon that while he currently has no desire to fight him, he will agree to a match if he is able to win even once in the 200s.

The clerk revealing that they need to win ten matches

The clerk revealing that they need to win ten matches

After Hisoka walks away, three other fighters watch the two boys and see that they are able to use Nen. A female clerk happily welcomes the two to the 200s and asks them to fill out the necessary forms, wondering if they would also like to register for a match. She assures them that they have 90 days in which to choose a date, warning them that they will be disqualified and their name struck from all records if they don't fight before then. She also reveals that they need ten wins to clear the floor and that if they lose four matches before then, they will also be disqualified. She then excitedly reveals that if they win ten matches, they will have the chance to fight the Floor Masters, the 21 strongest fighters at Heavens Arena who control floors 230 to 250. She adds that they will become the new master of the floor and be able to participate in the Battle Olympia tournament if they defeat its current owner.

Gon and Killua listening to the clerk's explanation

Gon and Killua are left unimpressed by the explanation, with the latter wondering if the top floor has anything special. The clerk angrily explains that the winner of Battle Olympia gets to live in the penthouse at the top of the tower, but Gon points out that Killua's house is 3,700 meters above ground. Before the official can reveal the amount of prize money, Killua says that he doesn't care about reaching the top floor anymore, with Gon adding that he only wants to fight Hisoka. As the clerk begins to cry and wonders why the two are even there, Killua reminds Gon that he will need to win at least one fight, asking him if he plans to wait first. Gon clenches his fist and reveals that he plans to fight immediately so that he can find out how different the opponents are.

Gon and Killua confronted

Gon and Killua confronted by three fighters

As Gon fills out the necessary form, the three fighters approach the two boys and reveal that they are simply waiting to register. Killua realizes that they want to fight on the same day as Gon, who tells the clerk that he is prepared to fight on any day. The three fighters chuckle and remain confident before the clerk gives Gon and Killua their room numbers and promises to let them know on which day they will fight. As the two leave to go to their rooms, Killua glances back at the three fighters and guesses that they must have endured the initiation that Wing mentioned, realizing that they could have ended up like them if they hadn't learned about Nen first. Gon, however, is more focused on how nice his room is, with both happily taking in a view of the city at night.

HxH2011 EP29 Heavens Arena match notice

The notice displayed on a television

The two suddenly notice a message on the television stating that Gon's fight will take place at 3 p.m. on March 11, and Killua can't believe that it's already been scheduled for the next day. Gon calmly practices using Ten and says that while he probably won't win the fight, he needs to experience a Nen battle and see what he can do with his newfound power. On the day of the match, the announcer introduces Gon first and then his opponent, Gido, who has a 4-1 record. In a flashback, Wing tells Gon and Killua that Ten is used only for defense and reminds the two that they have not worked on their offense at all. He also warns them that a highly skilled Nen user will be able to break through their Ten to deal a possibly lethal strike, asking that they both wait at least two months before their first match and offering to teach them as much as possible during that time.

Gon Defeated By Gido

Gon struck by one of Gido's Dancing Tops

Back in the present, Gon apologizes to Wing and smiles as he tells himself that he's just too eager to fight. As Zushi watches with a smile on his face, Wing is left exasperated by Gon's decision to fight so soon. The referee begins the match, and Gon immediately uses Ten. Gido chuckles in reply and suddenly reveals several spinning tops that move along his walking stick. As the announcer calls them his Dancing Tops, Gido uses his Battle Waltz ability and sends them flying toward Gon. The tops spin all around him and bounce into each other, with one suddenly striking him in the back. Gon quickly recovers, and Gido is given one point for a clean hit. Gido explains that he can use his Nen to allow the tops to spin for hours, revealing that their attack patterns are so complex that even he can't predict their movements. Gon dodges multiple tops and is left worried since each one hits as hard as a hammer, nervously waiting for another to strike.
