Killua × Big Fortune × Hunter's Tavern (キルア×一攫千金×狩人の酒場, Kirua × Ikkaku Senkin × Hantā Saito) is the 50th episode of the original Hunter × Hunter anime. It first aired on December 16th, 2000.
Overview[]
Gon and Killua leave Whale Island for Yorknew City. They gain more information about Greed Island from the Hunters' Website. They need a lot of money to buy the game. They try to earn more by bargaining online, but fail and lose money. Milluki can't decode the game from the card, so he also goes to Yorknew to buy it. After all the tests, Kurapika gets the job and is introduced to his boss, a teenager named Neon Nostrade.
Synopsis[]
Mito and Gon's grandmother say goodbye to Gon and Killua
Gon and Killua pack up and say goodbye to Mito and Gon's grandmother. They remind Gon to write to them while he is away and even ask Killua to do the same. Mito tells Killua that he is always welcome in her home and to come back again, and Killua seems overjoyed at her words.
On their journey, the boys find a public computer, and the carrier bird that Milluki sent arrives with the URL for Killua. They use the URL, along with Gon's Hunter License, to gain access to the Hunter website that may contain more information on Greed Island. The information on Greed Island on the site alone costs the boys twenty million jenny, which Gon begrudgingly pays for.
Even with a bit more info on Greed Island, the boys have nowhere near the amount of money they'd need to buy the game at the Yorknew City auction, so they decide to invest the money they won at Heavens Arena on some items that they could start auctioning back themselves, to start doubling their money.

Near the Nostrade's Mansion, Melody goes for a walk and sees Kurapika by a stream. She approaches him and talks to him for a long while about his heartbeat, and although he isn't dismissive to her anymore, he remains distant and says very little to her in return. Inside the mansion, Squala has Kurapika, Melody, Basho, and Baise show him the items they each collected.
Dalzollene then appears and invites the Hunters upstairs so he can inspect the items himself. Once they all join him, Eliza and another attendant bring Dalzollene the items to look over before taking them away to their boss. Dalzollene congratulates the four of them and tells them they are all officially hired as Nostrade bodyguards. He outlines their next assignment to them, which involves escorting their boss to the Yorknew City auction and keeping the boss safe from their many enemies.

Gon and Killua get scammed out of a large portion of their money on an auction site and argue in a public square over who's at fault. They decide to split their remaining money and compete to see who can make the most money by 9 PM of August 31st. The loser of their competition will have to do one thing that the winner asks. The two boys part ways to try and figure out how to make money. Killua goes to a casino and immediately gets stopped at the door. He convinces the guard that he's twenty years old by using a fake ID Milluki got for him. Conversely, Gon goes back to trying to buy and sell stuff on auction websites.
At the Zoldyck Family estate, Milluki gets incredibly frustrated while trying to make his own version of Greed Island using the memory card Killua sent him. Milluki gets even more annoyed that Illumi isn't around to help him, and he ends up making a deal with his father to get fifteen billion jenny in exchange for killing fifteen people. Milluki then heads off in a helicopter to Yorknew City to partake in the auction himself.
Hisoka on the airship
On an airship, Hisoka wonders if Kurapika will attend the auction, since Hisoka was the one who initially tipped him off about the Phantom Troupe's plans to be there. He even considers making an ally of Kurapika if it means he'll help him take on the Phantom Troupe.
At the Nostrade mansion, Dalzollene takes the new hires to meet their boss, Neon. The group is surprised to see that Neon is so young.
