Synopsis[]

GI OVA 73 - Zoldycks 2

Killua's memory of his father

While alone in his room, Killua has flashbacks of his electricity training at the Zoldyck Family home and a lesson from his father. In the present, Gon comes into Killua's room to get him. Killua thinks to himself that he is no longer an assassin, but a hunter instead, and he and Gon depart.

At the Greed Island player selection exam, an announcer introduces the event and Battera, who sits on a throne in another room watching the event on a screen. Gon is confused by the number of teams Battera was looking for, which has been reduced from seven to six, and Killua informs Gon that one of the games Battera had acquired was reportedly stolen. The announcer explains how the contestants will need to impress them with their Nen if they hope to be chosen and fill one of the thirty-two spots and then introduces the examiner for the event, Tsezguerra.

Tsezguerra instructs the contestants to come backstage one at a time to show him their Ren. Biscuit lines up first and gets annoyed when Jeet buds before her. The contestants who have formed a long line go backstage one at a time as they are instructed. Puhat, who is sat behind Gon and Killua, keeps laughing as the contestants go in. Killua notices that despite ten people having gone into the back so far, none of them have returned, and he worries that they all have passed the exam. Puhat leans forward to Gon and Killua to make fun of the people who have lined up or formed crowds of them.

At the Phantom Troupe's hideout, Machi continuously tries to stomp on the JoyStation Console they have to see if it will break and is impressed by its strength. Her and Shizuku both joke around about Feitan and Phinks playing the game like they're kids, but Shalnark explains that the two likely haven't returned yet not because they're enjoying themselves, but because the game is really hard to leave.

Killua showing off his ability to Tsezguerra

Once no one is lined up for the exam, Puhat stands up to take the exam and goes backstage. Eventually, the announcer calls for the next person to go up, and Killua decides to come in before Gon. While Killua is walking backstage, he thinks about his dad stopping him during a fight. Killua comes face to face with Tsezguerra in the backroom. Tsezguerra asks to see Killua's Ren, and Killua asks if he can show his Hatsu instead. Tsezguerra agrees and admits that he had been disappointed when Killua and Gon only showed them to him. Killua easily produces a large amount of electricity between his hands and seers some holes through the floor, causing the room lights to flicker as well.

Tsezguerra tells Killua that he has passed the exam, and although he tries not to show it on his face, he's shocked that Killua could possibly have learned to do that in just four days. Before Killua can leave, Tsezguerra asks Killua about how he could withstand the high voltage he was wielding. Killua looks at him and tells him with a smile that he has been enduring voltage like that since he was born for family reasons.

After Killua has passed, he goes to the back with the others who have succeeded and is shocked to see that Biscuit made it through. Gon's turn comes, and when he shows Tsezguerra his strength, a huge crash is heard by those waiting in the backroom who have already passed. Gon then appears in the backroom, and he and Killua are excited to see that each other made it through. In the room with Tsezguerra, a large hole is shown all the way through the thick stone wall.

Killua, Gon, and Leorio sit together at a restaurant while the two younger boys tell Leorio about the exam results. Leorio worries about what kind of game Greed Island is and the type of person Battera is to offer fifty billion Jenny Symbol 2011 as a reward. In an interview about his motives, Battera lies and keeps a secret about how much money he'll get for winning Greed Island. At the restaurant, Leorio reads the terms of the contracts Killua and Gon were given, and the two of them decide to sign. Leorio part ways with Gon and Killua, with Gon wishing Leorio good luck on becoming a doctor and Leorio telling the two boys to be careful; he worries about not seeing them for potentially four or more years before getting into a taxi.

At the Spiders' hideout, Shizuku and Kortopi are playing a game of chess when they get interrupted by Shalnark. Shalnark asks the two of them to join him in entering Greed Island, and the two accept.

Tsezguerra at Battera's mansion, introducing the teams to Greed Island

Gon and Killua board a train with the other people on Battera's teams, and say goodbye to Yorknew City. When all the team members arrive at Battera's mansion with all of Battera's games, Tsezguerra explains that everyone who enters the game will start off in the same place and play in the same world. He then hands out a memory card to each player. Puhat suggests that they all play rock paper scissors to decide the order of who goes in first, with the loser going in first. Gon "wins" and gets to enter first, and says he wants to use his save data. Gon is instructed to put on the ring he has. Gon does so, determined to find his father and trusting the things he left behind for Gon. Tsezguerra lets Gon enter the game and Killua tells Gon to wait for him at the starting point, before Gon disappears into the game.

Inside the game, Gon appears at the end of a reception hallway, where Eta waits for him on the other end.
