Contact × Razor × A United Front (接触×レイザー×共同戦線, Sesshōku × Reizā × Kyōdōsensen) is the 82nd episode of the original Hunter × Hunter anime and the 4th episode of the Greed Island final OVA series. It was released on DVD on March 3rd, 2004.
Overview[]
Gon, Killua, and Biscuit continue collecting cards. A united front rises to prevent the Bomber team from winning the game by monopolizing a card they still need.
Synopsis[]
Genthru, Sub, and Bara force Motaricke to keep rolling the Risky Dice for them while Motaricke begs for his life. They claim that they'll let him go if he manages to secure them a Wild Luck Alexandrite using Lottery. Although Motaricke doesn't roll poorly, he only receives a Roaming Ruby card from the Lottery. Motaricke is forced to continue rolling, while Sub and Bara sadistically cheer him on.
After some time of still not getting their desired card, Motaricke cowers on the ground, shaking, and Sub and Bara happily offer to roll the die themselves despite the high risk to their lives. Instead, Genthru takes the die from Motaricke and rolls it himself, saying they should all face the challenge together.
Biscuit, Gon, and Killua look over their card collection, which now consists of fifty-one unique cards. Killua points out that they will soon need to start engaging with other players in order to progress, but Biscuit encourages them to finish collecting all the ones they can on their own first, and the group makes its way to the next city.
Tsezguerra's team, consisting of himself, Kess, Barry, and Rodriot meet up with Genthru to make a trade. Genthru agrees to give them Night Jade in exchange for Miniature Dragon, Spirited Away Hollow, and Patch of Forest. Tsezguerra and Genthru hand off their cards to each other, but Sub and Bara emerge from hiding underground and each roll a Risky Dice before using Thief cards. The Bomber trio then teleports away to Masadora, having stolen back the card they were meant to trade, as well as taking a Witch's Rejuvenation Potion and a Levitation Stone from Tsezguerra, a Fledgling Novelist and a King White Stag Beetle from Barry, a Pre-Order Vouchers and a Hypothetical T.V. from Rodriot, and a Sacrifice Armor from Kess.
Rodriot suggests they follow Genthru using Accompany, but Tsezguerra informs his team that Genthru is the Bomber and what happened to everyone originally aligned with him. While his team worries that Genthru may now have all the cards necessary to complete Greed Island, Tsezguerra checks the list of cards and sees that no player has yet to obtain Plot of Beach, and they head out to go start searching for it themselves.
In Masadora, the Bomber trio looks over their collection, which now consists of ninety-two out of the hundred required cards. They plan to obtain Mad Scientist's Plastic Surgery, X-Ray Goggles, and Tree of Plenty before going to look for Plot of Beach.
Gon makes a trade with another player, Michiro, for the card Favor Cushion, which causes Gon's Paladin's Necklace to activate. Killua calls out Michiro for giving them a fake card, and Michiro sheepishly gives them the real card before running away. Gon wonders if he could use his Paladin's Necklace to help the Sick Villagers they encountered long ago. Biscuit claims it won't work because the villagers aren't cards, but Killua confidently tells them they should try anyway.
After returning to the village, Gon asks the villagers to trust him, and they comply since Gon had been so nice to them before. The villagers turn into cards, and Gon can use his Paladin's Necklace to dispel the curse on them, and their Sick Villagers cards turn into Healthy Villagers cards. The villagers return to their human forms and thank Gon, giving him the Wild Luck Alexandrite card as a reward.
The trio leaves, and his book informs Gon that another player has used Contact on him. When they see it's a player named Kazsule, the boys have no recollection of him, and Kazsule introduces himself as the guy who stole their Sword of Truth in Antokiba. Kazsule says that he wants to meet up with the boys, now that they've amassed a lot of cards, along with some other groups he has invited, to discuss the Bomber, who is getting close to winning the game.
Gon, Killua, and Biscuit attend the meeting with the other groups and Kazsule talks about potentially forming a united front against the Bomber trio to stop them from winning. He claims the only cards the Bomber doesn't currently possess are Ruler's Blessing, Plot of Beach, Tree of Plenty, and Wild Luck Alexandrite, and urges everyone to work as a team to collect at least one of the three latter cards. Asta agrees with the overall plan, but voices her disbelief that some groups there, particularly Gon's group, could help them.
Gon and Killua inform them that they actually know what Genthru's abilities are and that they already possess one of the cards Genthru still needs. Amana asks about Genthru's abilities, but Killua insists that they have to prove that they'll be useful to them as well before they give up any information. Asta offers to trade a Rank A card for the information, but Killua refuses since they can easily obtain Rank A cards on their own. Killua tells them to give two rank S cards or information equal to theirs. Asta is upset at first, but begrudgingly hands over Shield of Faith and Pregnancy Stones.
Gon explains Genthru's Nen abilities to the groups, and everyone else at the meeting is shocked to realize they have likely already had a bomb planted on them by Genthru since they have all been in contact with him. The groups decide to go after Plot of Beach, and Amana uses Guidepost to figure out where they can get the card. The groups immediately travel to Soufrabi.
Kazsule has the groups split up to gather information, but the townspeople prove unhelpful, with some warning them not to go looking for Plot of Beach at all, since it'll cost them too many lives. Eventually, they find an NPC willing to give them info and tell them of fifteen pirates who came to the island seeking underwater treasure years ago. She says anyone who knew about Plot of Beach, including her father and brother, were killed.
In private, Kazsule finds it strange that they were suddenly able to get the information they were looking for when everybody in town hardly spoke to them when they came before. Amana suspects it may have something to do with the number of players they came with this time, since they now have fifteen players altogether, which is equal to the number of pirates in the NPC's story.
The groups go together to the local tavern and confront the group drinking there, led by Bopobo, asking them to leave town. Bopobo's group laughs at Kazsule, before Bopobo pours liquor in a circle around himself, lighting it on fire. He says he'll let them see his boss if they are able to remove him from the ring of fire without stepping out themselves. Zeho steps forward to challenge Bopobo and jump into the ring of fire, slamming into Bopobo, but Bopobo is easily able to pick him up and tries to crush him to death while holding him over the fire. Zeho forfeits and begs for his life, but Bopobo continues to crush him until Gon kicks Bopobo in the face, releasing Zeho from his grasp.
Gon is angry with Bopobo for not letting Zeho go, but Bopobo says Gon has already lost since Gon came into the ring to strike Bopobo and then stepped back out again. Gon eagerly wants another chance to take him on, and almost gets it before Killua steps in to whisper to Gon not to. He knows Gon is probably planning to use his Nen ability, and Killua tells him to keep it a secret from people until he really needs it. Instead, Killua steps up to challenge Bopobo. Before entering the ring, Killua gets a bottle of alcohol from the bar and jumps into the ring, pouring the bottle on Bopobo's head. Killua generates electricity between his fingers and uses it to set the alcohol, and therefore Bopobo's head, on fire. Bopobo rolls out of the ring, trying to put the fire out.
Bopobo becomes incredibly enraged at Killua for beating him and goes to strike Killua, but one of the other pirates enters the ring and kicks Bopobo so hard that he goes flying into a wall. The pirate chastises him for being a sore loser and then offers to take the fifteen challengers to meet his boss. He leads them to a lighthouse that acts as their fortress, where the group encounters Razor and his teammates in a training room.
