Meeting Again × Hisoka × Sporting Event (再会×ヒソカ×スポーツ勝負, Saikai × Hisoka × Supōtsu Shōbu) is the 83rd episode of the original Hunter × Hunter anime and the 5th episode of the Greed Island final OVA series. It was released on DVD on March 7th, 2004.

Overview[]

Kazsule's Alliance loses to the pirates, and the Alliance groups part ways. Gon, Killua, Biscuit, and Goreinu organize a stronger team, which includes Hisoka and Tsezguerra.

Synopsis[]

Bopobo tells Razor that Kazsule's Alliance has come to challenge their team to try and kick them off the island. Razor accepts and explains that each member of his team will challenge one of the opposing teams in a sport that his teammate is good at. The first team to eight wins will be victorious; no player can compete in more than one challenge.

Bopobo tries to challenge Killua in sumo to get revenge on him, but Killua says he'll only accept once a team reaches seven wins. One of the pirates begins with boxing and jumps into the boxing ring. Montreux accepts the challenge and enters the ring with him. Razor tells them that they must abide by a special rule, which states that anything created by Nen can be used as a weapon. Montreux still agrees to challenge the boxer pirate, and the match begins.

Montreux attack HXH 99 EP83

Montreux launches a punch

Montreux launches a projectile punch at the pirate boxer, surprising him, and the pirate boxer barely manages to dodge it. Montreux manages to knock the pirate boxer to the ground using a flurry of punches. Souheil and Yabibi assume that Montreux has managed to win, but Gon and Killua know better and say that the blows were equally exchanged. Montreux also falls to the floor, and Razor begins to countdown. The pirate boxer can get back up before Razor gets to ten, but Montreux stays down, and the pirates win the round.

Everyone on Kazsule's Alliance outside of Gon's group is stunned by the results, and Kazsule asks Killua what happened. Killua explains that the pirate boxer could very quickly teleport his fist and land a critical uppercut on Montreux. The next pirate steps up, spinning a football on his finger. Goreinu overhears Killua speaking with Gon and Biscuit before the trio agrees on something together, and Biscuit cheerfully offers to go next.

The pirate footballer explains that the two must compete to see who can juggle a football for longer, but they are allowed to attack each other with Nen while doing this, as long as they don't touch the football with their hands. Biscuit immediately drops her ball, putting on her usually cutesy façade, and loses. Gon goes next and performs very poorly in his challenge, losing as well. Killua eventually faces off against Bopobo and steps out of the ring when Bopobo charges at him, making himself lose. Bopobo calls him out for losing on purpose. Razor immediately realizes that Gon, Killua, and Biscuit are just data mining the challenges for when they return with a better group, as they believe they can't win with their current party.

Gons new team searching for a new team HXH 99 EP83

Gon's team looks through their list of players

After being defeated, Kazsule's Alliance part ways, and only Gon, Killua, Biscuit, and Goreinu remain outside the lighthouse. Killua asks Goreinu what he'll do next, and Goreinu offers to join forces with them. The four of them go to sit at a restaurant and look over the list of players in Gon's book to find strong players. Gon says that Chrollo would be the strongest person for them to ask, but Killua points out that Kurapika was certain that Chrollo was an imposter. Gon says he still wants to meet up with this person to see why they would use Chrollo's name, but won't team up with them if they end up being someone from the Phantom Troupe.

Killua dislikes Gon's idea of meeting up with this person. Still, Gon goes through with it anyway, using Accompany to transport the quartet to the location of the Chrollo imposter. The group gets teleported to Hisoka, who is bathing naked in a lake. Hisoka is impressed to see how much Gon and Killua have grown and figures they must have had a good master to teach them. He realizes the teacher must be Biscuit, who can't stop staring at Hisoka's naked body.

Gon asks Hisoka why he is playing Greed Island, and Hisoka decides to lie since Gon and Killua will likely try to stop his plans if he tells them the truth. He says he's there searching for Chrollo to tell him about a potential exorcist who can restore his Nen so that Hisoka can finally fight him. He entered the game using Chrollo's name so that it might draw the attention of the Spiders, who he knew had an interest in Greed Island.

Biscuit HXH 99 EP83 002

Biscuit tells her group in secret that Hisoka is lying

Biscuit asks Hisoka to join their party of strong players in an adorable manner, and Hisoka immediately agrees, claiming he has nothing else to do. Goreinu opposes Hisoka's joining them, however, claiming that he seems too dangerous. Biscuit turns to face her group, telling them aloud that Hisoka seems friendly while she writes in the air using Nen to tell them that she believes he's lying to them.

Hisoka joins their party, and the group walks off together. While Hisoka walks beside Goreinu, Killua asks how she knows Hisoka is lying, and she says it's just her intuition, but she can tell he's hiding something about Chrollo. Killua deduces that Hisoka has likely already found the Spiders and isn't currently searching for them like he said, based on the fact that Hisoka told them he had nothing better to do than join their group; he's certain that both Hisoka and the Spiders are in the game trying to find this supposed exorcist.

Killua doesn't tell Gon any of this information, knowing Gon probably won't be able to keep it a secret and doesn't want to risk Hisoka leaving them while they still need strong players. Gon suggests they try and recruit Tsezguerra since they know he's strong, and Gon feels like they might be able to negotiate with him. Killua gets the idea to check Hisoka's book to see if any of the Spiders' names appear in it. At that moment, Gon runs up to Hisoka and asks to see his book to see if he has met Tsezguerra before in the game since that will make getting to him much easier.

Hisoka checks his book and sees that he has met Tsezguerra before. Killua is shocked when Hisoka willingly shows the group his book and is even more shocked when Killua sees none of the Spiders' names listed in it. Killua questions if he and Biscuit were wrong about Hisoka all along. Gon hands Hisoka an Accompany card to take to Tsezguerra, and when the group's eyes are off his book, Hisoka removes the Texture Surprise he had used to conceal the Spiders' names.

New team to beat razor HXH 99 EP83

The joined forces discuss their strategy for defeating the pirates

The group negotiates with Tsezguerra's group, and Tsezguerra likes their plan to thwart the Bomber, but points out that even with their two groups combined, they only have nine people on their team. Goreinu says they can recruit players who need help leaving the game to fill out the rest of their team, as long as their group of nine can win eight total matches against the pirates. Killua tells Tsezguerra's team to demonstrate their Ren to prove their capabilities, and Tsezguerra happily agrees, demonstrating his vertical jump that has been enhanced with Nen, which launches Tsezguerra into the air. Gon and Killua get excited upon seeing this and want to try it for themselves. When they do, they completely blow past Tsezguerra in the sky, and Tsezguerra is shocked to see how far they have improved quickly. Killua tells Tsezguerra that he has passed, and Tsezguerra asks Goreinu about what sports the pirates will challenge them to.

Goreinu shows a list of the eight sports they know of for the pirate challenges, and the group decides what sports each member will do if they come up with the challenges. During their discussion, Barry tells the group that Genthru has reached ninety-seven cards.
