Overview[]
After the team is gathered, they easily pass the initial sports contests, but still must defeat Razor in an 8 vs 8 game of deadly Nen-charged dodgeball.
Synopsis[]
After spending a week filling out the rest of their party and practicing, Gon's group returns to the lighthouse on Soufrabi with a full fifteen players on their team. There, they challenge Razor and the pirates once again.
Barry faces off against the pirate boxer. Once the match begins, Barry immediately gets up close to the pirate boxer and starts punching. The pirate boxer is able to block the hits, but is thrown off by the close combat and Barry's speed. Barry manages to land some hits on the boxer and is able to knock him down. The boxer stays down for the count, winning Gon's team the match.
The pirate footballer then challenges them to a bowling match, which Rodriot accepts. The bowling game uses human-sized pins, which Rodriot is easily able to clear, and Kess wins the basketball challenge. Razor is impressed with the new team Gon, Killua, and Biscuit have brought, and tells his teammates they can lose their matches and leave the rest to him. Bopobo, upset at this news and wanting to get his revenge on Killua, quits working for Razor on the spot and tells Killua to fight him outside. Razor tells Bopobo that this violates his contract with Razor, but Bopobo doesn't back down, and instead turns to the other pirates looking for them to join him in taking down Razor.
While Bopobo is trying to convince the other pirates, Razor creates a ball of aura and throws it at Bopobo, hitting him in the head. This sends Bopobo flying across the room and kills him. The weaker members of Gon's group panic upon seeing this, and tell Goreinu they don't want to participate anymore, but Tsezguerra assures them they won't have to fight anyone on Razor's team.
Killua asks who will be considered the winner of the sumo match, since Bopobo is now dead, and Razor lets Killua have the win without question or consideration. However, since Killua had yet to actually accept the sumo challenge, Killua argues that they should be able to give the win to anyone on their team. Razor allows it, and Killua assigns it to one of the weaker members.
Razor is next to challenge Gon's group, and uses his ability 14 Devils to create seven Nen players to fill out his dodgeball team. Goreinu questions how an individual winner will be decided, if eight people have to play on each team, and Razor says that the winner will be awarded eight points, making the previous challenges completely meaningless. The weaker members of Gon's team immediately try to back out, not wanting to risk their lives. Gon asks if they can compete in the dodgeball match using only six players on their team, but Razor insists that they need eight.
Gon gets mad, since Razor is technically fighting alone on his team. He asks Razor what Bopobo did to deserve being killed, and Razor outlines Bopobo's various heinous crimes, and Gon backs off. Tsezguerra tells Gon that Razor is a Game Master, and therefore not an NPC, with the pirates being real-life convicts sentenced to death, making Bopobo's sudden execution after breaking his contract much more reasonable. Hisoka steps forward to confirm that Greed Island is real, which is news to everyone else on the team. Razor also recognizes Gon as Ging's son when Gon mentions Ging's name.
At the presence of Razor's overwhelming aura, the weaker members of Gon's team run out, leaving them with not enough members to play. Goreinu insits that he can play as three people, and uses his abilities White Goreinu and Black Goreinu to create two gorillas. With two teams of eight finally made, Razor outlines the basic rules of the challenge and the game commences.
When the teams tip-off, Razor purposefully lets Killua take the ball first, which Goreinu views as an act of being overly confident and gets annoying. He harshly throws the ball into Number 4 as a response, knocking them out. Goreinu then easily takes out Number 5 in the same way. Razor, still confident even after losing two players, claims he is line to defeat the other team now. Goreinu attempts to slam the ball into Razor but Razor is easily able to catch it with just one hand. Goreinu is certain he won't be able to dodge or catch the ball, so he has White Goreinu switch places with him and take the hit instead. White Goreinu gets destroyed on impact, and Goreinu is left exhausted and put in the outfield.
The ball goes back to Razor's side, where the teammates all pass the ball between their members as lightning speeds, making it incredibly difficult for the other team to tell where the ball is and who is going to try and throw to hit them. Number 4 throws the ball at Tsezguerra, striking him in the back and knocking him out. Razor asks the other pirates to treat Tsezguerra's injuries when he goes to sit out, as he claims even after protecting himself with Nen, Tsezguerra likely has broken bones, but Tsezguerra refuses their help.
Gon prompts Hisoka to take the ball, so that Hisoka will be able to use his Bungee Gum to make the ball return to him after he knocks someone out. Hisoka throws the ball, and he and his team are shocked when Number 6 and Number 7 combine to become Number 13, who is easily able to catch Hisoka's throw.
The ball gets handed to Razor, who is shocked to see Gon and Killua using Ken, clearly preparing to try and catch whatever throw will come their way in an attempt to get the ball back to their team. Razor remarks that Ken will probably save the two from dying to one of his throws, depending on where the ball hits them. Razor throws the ball at Gon full force, and at the last minute Gon switches to Ko and focuses all of his aura into his hands where the ball is about to hit.
Trivia[]
- A mistake appears in this episode with Number 4. Number 4 is shown to be the one throwing the ball that strikes out Tsezguerra. However, earlier in the match, Number 4 is also shown to be one of the two players knocked out by Goreinu, and Number 4 is never shown to be brought back into the game using "back."
