Synopsis[]

Chap 72 - Milluki making his way to Yorknew City

Milluki making his way to Yorknew City

At Kukuroo Mountain, Milluki is furious that he can't recreate Greed Island using save data from the game, at first wondering if Killua tricked him but quickly realizing that his younger brother couldn't forge a game and wouldn't double-cross him either. He guesses that either Killua was tricked or the data is real, angrily wondering why it won't work if the latter is true. He considers hacking into the Hunter website and wishes that Illumi were there to help. Desperate to discover the secret, he says that he is willing to pay anything. He checks his savings and finds a balance of Jenny Symbol 201112.7 billion, saying that he would prefer to have twice that so he can beat the other bidders. After boarding a balloon vehicle with a propeller on top, he calls his father and says that he will kill 15 people if he loans him Jenny Symbol 201115 billion. Using a computer, he sets the vehicle to autopilot and has it head directly to Lingon Airport, saying that he was probably ten the last time he left the house.

At a hotel in Yorknew City, Dalzollene reads the first four lines from one of Neon's fortunes to her father on the phone, telling him that three other poems begin the same way. He adds that the four clients all plan to attend the Underground Auction and worries about their safety, saying that sleep-related words in the fortunes usually allude to illness or death. The boss tells Dalzollene to send the fortunes to the clients, and Dalzollene then mentions that Neon not only doesn't know what she writes, but can't tell her own future. He asks if she should still be allowed to attend the auction, and the boss tells him to bring her home immediately. Dalzollene, however, says that Neon will become furious if they try to do so since she has been looking forward to it. The boss agrees that she can stay as long as she doesn't go anywhere near the auction, telling Dalzollene to get her whatever she wants and that they must bid for the items themselves.

Chap 72 - Kurapika learning that Scarlet Eyes are among the items they need to collect

Kurapika learning that Scarlet Eyes are among the items they need to collect

Dalzollene meets up with all the bodyguards and tells them that their next assignment will be bidding on a list of items at the Underground Auction, stressing that money is no object. The three items are the mummy of Princess Corco, a tissue used by the actor Sonne Limarch, and a set of Scarlet Eyes from the Kurta Clan. As Kurapika looks up at the image of the last item on the projector, Dalzollene tells the group that they also received a tip about a possible attack on the auction. He tells them to prepare accordingly, but stresses that obtaining the items is their top priority. He says that the first item will be auctioned off at 9 p.m. in the Cemetery Building, assigning Ivlenkov, Tocino, and Baise to be in charge of the bidding.

Basho wonders why he would assign only three of them, and Dalzollene replies that buyers have to enter in groups of three and since the Mafia runs the event, there have rarely been any problems. He stresses that since trust is everything, there are no surveillance cameras inside. He tells them to forget any rivalries, to not make any disturbances, and to not talk to anyone else. After he assigns Basho and Linssen to rear entrance surveillance, Kurapika and Melody to front entrance surveillance, and Squala (and himself) to guard Neon, Dalzollene tells the group to head out.

Chap 72 - Gon, Killua, and Leorio discussing how to obtain a copy of Greed Island

Gon, Killua, and Leorio discussing how to obtain a copy of Greed Island

At a hotel in the city, Leorio learns that Gon and Killua only have Jenny Symbol 20115 million when the minimum bid for Greed Island is Jenny Symbol 20118.9 billion. He stresses that they won't even be able to afford the entrance fee to the Southernpiece Auction House and adds that even if the game has clues about Gon's father, they can't do much if it's nearly impossible to obtain. Killua points out that it was listed as "easy" on the Hunter website and Gon says that the reason is because one only needs money to get it. Leorio then reminds them both that the world really is all about money. Killua replies that something that can be bought isn't real treasure and that anyone who calls themselves a professional Hunter should easily be able to obtain the game.

As Gon and Leorio look for ideas on the computer, Killua calls them both simple and stupid, guessing that Leorio is also an Enhancer. They find information on swap meets and then read about something called a conditional auction, where the seller sets a non-monetary condition and gives the item to the first person who fulfills it. Leorio suddenly gets an idea and energetically says that he has a guaranteed way to make a profit.

After the three head out to the street and Gon sits waiting at a table, Leorio announces to a growing crowd that the first one to beat the boy in arm wrestling will win a diamond ring worth Jenny Symbol 20113 million. As Killua shows off the reward, Leorio tells the crowd that it only costs Jenny Symbol 201110,000 to participate and enthusiastically asks them who will try first. Dozens of people eagerly hold up their money and hurry to get in line.

Once the first contender sits down and puts his hand out, Gon reminds himself to be barely stronger than them and to pretend that he's suffering. As Gon easily beats several people, Killua says to himself that their scheme is pretty much hustling and that they would need 889,999 more wins to make Jenny Symbol 20118.9 billion. One person in the crowd says that Gon has beaten 150 guys so far, and another wonders how old he is. Three others hope that he is close to his limit and that he doesn't lose before it's their turn. It's revealed that Gon is sweating because he feels bad for scamming so many people.

Chap 72 - Gon vs Shizuku

Gon arm-wrestling a member of the Phantom Troupe

Leorio then welcomes the first female contender, and it's revealed to be a member of the Phantom Troupe. The woman bows and says that she will do her best. The two lock their right hands together and once Leorio gives the signal, Gon is surprised by the woman's strength and forced to actually try as he eventually beats her. She thanks him before leaving, and Killua realizes that Gon had to actually try in order to win. As they wonder if she's the female world champion of arm wrestling, the woman meets up with two other Troupe members who ask her how it went. She says that the boy was tough and she lost. The shorter member addresses her as Shizuku and says that she is too weak. She says that she really wanted the diamond ring, and the larger member replies that she should have used her left arm. The shorter member agrees and wonders why she didn't use her strong arm.

Shizuku realizes her mistake and says that she only put out her right because the boy did. She says that she wants to try again, but the other two remind her that they don't have time since they need to make their move at the auction. Elsewhere, after being told that she isn't allowed to attend the auction, Neon begins to throw things around the room and scream that she wants to go. Dalzollene is on the phone with her father and asks if he can hear her, saying that they don't know what to do.
