Leech's manga appearance

Leech was a large, portly man with black hair and a distinctive nose. He was seen wearing casual clothing: a T-shirt, casual trousers, and a pair of sports shoes.[4] When using his ability, he would extend the opening of the sac inside his body from his mouth, giving it the appearance of either a large tongue or an insect proboscis.[5]

Personality[]

Leech was a sadist, which he revealed when he relished in describing the horrible death that awaited Uvogin at the hands of his leeches.[5]

Plot[]

Yorknew City arc[]

Members of the Shadow Beasts

Leech and three other Shadow Beasts confronting Uvogin

As Uvogin continues to massacre dozens of Mafia members in the Gordeau Desert, four Shadow Beasts (including Porcupine) sent by the Ten Dons arrive to confront the Underground Auction thieves. They first appear in front of the Nostrade Family bodyguards, with Leech confidently saying that they should leave the matter to them.[4]

After Worm's punch is ineffective, and the Shadow Beast is forced to drag Uvogin underground, he warns the Spider that he can either die underground or be killed by his comrades. As the other three ready their auras and leap toward him, Uvogin unleashes his Big Bang Impact and leaves no trace of Worm except his arm, creating an enormous crater in the earth and forcing the other Shadow Beasts to leap back. They soon recognize his Spider tattoo and that he's a member of the Phantom Troupe.[5]

Leech's death

Uvogin asks which of them wants to die next, but the three waste no time in confronting him. After Porcupine distracts him with his hair and Rabid Dog paralyzes him with his neurotoxin, Leech appears behind Uvogin and begins inserting thousands of leeches into the wound on his shoulder. He tells the Spider that he keeps a variety of leeches inside his body, and while the creatures can be used for treatment, they can also cause diseases. He then explains that the leeches entering Uvogin's body will lay eggs in his bladder and cause millions of babies to burst through him as he urinates, adding that most people die from the pain alone. Before Leech can finish his explanation, Uvogin suddenly bites off a large portion of his head, leaving his brain exposed. As he chews the flesh and bone, Uvogin doesn't enjoy the taste and says that brains are supposed to be delicacies, spitting it out afterward.[5]

Abilities & Powers[]

As a Shadow Beast, Leech was very influential within the Mafia Community. He was also a capable fighter, one of the best serving under the Ten Dons, since he was chosen as one of their personal bodyguards. However, he was no match for Uvogin.

Nen[]

Leech was a Manipulator*.[2][3] As a Shadow Beast, he was one of the ten best Nen users within the Mafia Community, making him a fearsome opponent. His abilities also worked well in conjunction with those of other Shadow Beasts. He was fairly proficient at Zetsu since he managed to get near the Nostrade bodyguards with only Melody and possibly Kurapika noticing.[4]

Leech Tongue 2011
Inside Leech's body there was a sac, seemingly made out of muscles, in which he bred several species of leeches, all of which were particularly fond of human flesh. Some cured diseases, others transmitted them, making his ability fairly versatile. Through a trunk-like appendage that traveled parallel to his esophagus and came out of his mouth, he could implant several of them into the body of his enemy. It was possible that he used Manipulation in order to prevent them from turning on him. Against Uvogin, he used the spotted leech. These leeches would make their way to the host's bladder through his flesh before laying their eggs there and dying. When the eggs hatched, the pain was said to be enough to kill anyone. However, the eggs needed a precise level of ammonia or they would not hatch and merely be expelled with urine. This ability appeared more suitable to torture, intimidation, and execution rather than combat, as it did not seem to be as effective on unrestrained targets.[5]
