Hunter × Hunter: Operation All of My Friends!! (ハンター×ハンター~みんなさんな友だち大作戦!!~) is a 2003 Game Boy Advanced game that Konami developed. It was released in Japan on April 24th, 2003.[1]

Gameplay[]

Wandering[]

The basic gameplay consists of the player character wandering around, similar to Harvest Moon. They can use various tools to clean, dig, record melodies, plant, and so on and so forth. Primarily though, they will be interacting with NPCs for hints or completing character routes. Character routes all involve both the player and Hunter × Hunter character traveling to Bartsbic Village to find the village treasure. The player character can also be customized through the various hairstylists and clothing shops throughout. Some Hunter × Hunter characters (ex: Leorio and Killua) will reward custom items to wear.[1]

Songwriting & Letters[]

Song example using Leorio's voice

After completing a character's route, the player can occasionally unlock voices to sing written lyrics for CDs. Akin to Tomodachi Life, pre-made music is used to accompany the lyrics. These songs can be played on CD players at shops or other locations. Letters can also be sent out and written for the Hunter × Hunter characters afterward, which they may respond to. Both of these systems use text-to-speech voiced by the 1999 anime adaptation voice actors.[1]

Hunting Minigames[]

After finishing either Kurapika or Gon & Killua's route, the character will be able to play a hunting minigame. With the bow & arrow, the player must aim and launch the respective tool toward the animal they're catching. If caught, the creature can be sold. For fishing, the A button must be held and let go as the fish is pulled in at the correct time. Said timing is randomized. Fishing will typically be done at the fishing pond to the north of Bartsbic Village.[1]

Evade Minigame[]

When exploring the ruins featuring a baby dragon, a minigame will appear where a character is forced to dodge rocks. The player must hit the left and right buttons to avoid colliding with them. If they lose, though, the game continues on normally.[1]

Hitting Minigame[]

Also appearing in the ruins, the character must face the creatures coming (ex: spiders or bats) in order to hit them via the D-pad until time is up.[1]

Arm Wrestling Minigame[]

In order to win the game, the player must hit the correct buttons to the pattern given. Doing so will give the player the upper hand. Otherwise, the opponent will lower their arm. Like the real-life counterpart, the goal is to have the opponent’s arm hit the table instead.[1]
