Hunter × Hunter (獵人 x 獵人) was a mobile game by DeNA Co.,Ltd. that was released in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Macau region on February 7th, 2023. The game went up to the Greed Island arc. On December 29th, 2023, the game was shut down.

Overview[]

Hunter × Hunter (Mobile Game) was a 3D RPG adventure game that follows the plot of the 2011 anime adaptation. It includes scenes from anime and CG animation. The game takes place on Whale Island, Dolle Harbor, the Hunter Exam locations, Heavens Arena, and Yorknew City.

The game mainly focused on battling using a party of six, particularly PvE battles and some PvP competitive matches. It also incorporated some RPG questing elements and a card collection aspect.

Game Content[]

Trial Challenge[]

The trial challenge is the game’s story mode. It consists of events in the 2011 anime adaptation. A variety of fights are recreations of events from the show. Furthermore, certain cutscenes reanimate scenes from it. A few sections may involve mini-games, such as following behind a character or reaching an objective in time. Characters the player may not have (ex: Hisoka or Yorknew Kurapika) will be briefly given for the story’s sake. Each quest requires a certain power level and energy points to prevent the player from blazing through. Furthermore, a challenge mode is offered, which gives items for upgrading characters. Said challenge mode consists of harder versions of normal story missions.

Core Training[]

Core training is where the player fights a specific team of enemies. Defeating them will reward cores which improve character abilities and their power level. The more difficult an enemy is, the higher likelihood of obtaining rare cores. Once the player has reached Lvl 50, they can collect character-specific cores that enhance said characters and those of the same attribute.

Team Challenge[]

In Team Challenge, a player (and any invited players) must finish a side mission together. Depending on which route is unlocked that day, they will either have to fight Hisoka, Hanzo, or a Noggin Lugging Tortoise. The player(s) will receive Nen ability equipment by completing the mission. Only the first three successful attempts will reward golden equipment, while further attempts will only give more common equipment.

Training[]

Offered only nine times per day (three for each specific mode), training is used to grind for items required for leveling up characters. There are three separate modes for upgrading materials such as EXP items or coins. Each of them requires you to defeat enough CPU enemies in a limited amount of time. A few seconds will be added to the clock for each defeated CPU. Defeating them all will reward the player.

Secret Training[]

Secret Training is a fighting mode where the player is tasked with fighting a set group of enemies. Said enemies will usually be resistant to certain elemental types such as ice, fire, darkness, etc. The player is tasked with fighting them despite the restrictions and completing each of the mission’s objectives. Doing so will reward the player with items for the Airship’s training room, cards, gacha currency, etc.

Evaluation[]

Evaluation is a weekly challenge where players must fight a select week’s enemies. The first two fights will be used to evaluate the player team’s strength. The remaining fights will be double the size of said team’s power level, thus tasking them to raise in experience in other modes to be able to defeat enemies. Depending on how many enemies the player defeats here, they will be rewarded with evaluation currency which can be used at the in-game shop.

Arena Entrance[]

Acting as the game’s player vs. CPU player mode, the player decides between three randomly selected players at their floor level. If the player wins, they will ascend to a higher floor and be given in-game currency. How many other players have defeated a player's CPU lowers a player's rank by that amount. Only one team will be fought here.

In the 200th-floor ranking, players must select three separate teams to fight a selected CPU player. For balancing purposes, certain combinations may be forbidden (ex: no teams with three playable SSRs). It is worth noting the player does not have to be on the 200th-floor for the one-team version to participate here. Due to the higher difficulty, players are given currency for the limited gacha campaigns.

Guild Dungeon[]

After a player has joined a guild, they can fight a weekly boss in Guild Dungeon. The objective is to lower the boss’ health throughout the week alongside fellow teammates. Depending on which players did the most damage, they will be rewarded with guild currency which can be used at the in-game shop.

Entrust[]

Entrust is a side quest option for collecting experience items, Jenny, and gacha currency. The player is tasked with finding the mission on a select world area and completing a task. Most of the said tasks are fighting random enemies. However, the game also offers a fishing mini-game alongside a camera and digging side quest. The player is only allowed to do Entrust missions ten times per day.

Airship[]

Acting as a means of upgrading, various parts of the ship are unlocked depending on the player's airship level. Experience points are grinded by the selected characters put in charge of the ship. The kitchen is for cooking food which helps level up a character's working abilities for the control rooms. Specific food will give a higher increase (ex: egg-based meals will increase more experience for assist characters such as Baise). The training room will upgrade all characters' abilities, but requires obtained items from Secret Training to do so.

World Boss[]

Players team up to defeat a boss which spawns on the world map. The goal is to drain the enemies’ health to zero and cooperate with teammates. However, the players who do the most damage will receive higher rewards, such as rare upgrading cores. If a player dies during a world boss event, they will be given three chances to try again.

World Answer[]

As the name suggests, players are given a ten-question quiz on a select world map. There, their knowledge of the game or the Hunter × Hunter universe is put to the test. Players are ranked by how many successful answers were given. The more correct answers given, the better the rewards.
