Kanjiru (カンジル, Kanjiru) is one of the Heavens Arena's Floor Masters. He only appears in Hunter × Hunter: The Last Mission.[1]
Appearance[]
Kanjiru is a huge, bald man. Although very muscular, he has a prominent belly. His head is rather egg-shaped. A long, thin, dark mustache frames his mouth, reaching past his collarbone like his goatee. He has a violet tribal tattoo covering his arm from shoulder to wrist.[1]
His fighting clothes are a one-piece purple outfit that leaves his shoulders bare and covers half his thighs. It has a plunging neckline. He also wears black wristbands. In his matches, he competes barefoot.[1]
Personality[]
Not much is known about Kanjiru's personality due to his limited screen time, but he is mostly depicted as a violent and short-tempered fighter. According to Killua, Kanjiru had crushed the referees from some of his matches, not just his opponents. In addition, when Gaki stands in his way before his match with Zushi, Kanjiru immediately becomes enraged and yells at Gaki.[1]
Plot[]
The Last Mission[]
In Hunter × Hunter: The Last Mission, Kanjiru was meant to be Zushi's opponent in the Heavens Arena tournament. Killua claimed he had beaten countless other wrestlers and even referees and seemed concerned about how Zushi might fare against him.[1]
While Kanjiru is on his way into the ring, Gaki stands before him in the entrance hall, and Kanjiru starts yelling at him. Although it is not seen on screen, it is implied that Gaki then knocks him out. Gaki then takes Kanjiru's place in the ring to fight against Zushi. Kanjiru is later seen slumped over on the floor in the hallway, unconscious.[1]
Later that night, while Gon and Killua are running through the halls of the Heavens Arena, hypnotic gas is being spread throughout their area, so they duck into a nearby room, where they find Kanjiru. He mutters to himself before instigating a fight with the boys, shooting dark tendrils out of his mouth. He unleashes a great amount of On out of his body, and the other Floor Masters rise up to join in his fight against Gon and Killua. Kanjiru's eyes have changed to resemble those of On users.[1]
After being beaten down once, Kanjiru attempts to get back up again and strike Killua, who asks Gon if he can kill Kanjiru. Gon insists that he doesn't because Kanjiru is meant to be Zushi's opponent. Gon and Killua exit, leaving Kanjiru and the other Floor Masters in the room.[1]
During the end credits, after Jed is gone, Kanjiru is seen bandaged up and fighting in the Heavens Arena the next day against a similarly bandaged Zushi.[1]
Abilities & Powers[]
Not much is known about Kanjiru's abilities, but the fact that he was a Floor Master is proof enough of his power and proficiency in Nen. Still, he was defeated by Gaki single-handedly. On Kanjiru's Battle Olympia magazine page, he is shown using a suplex and a punch. Based on this and his wardrobe, he might use a style that combines wrestling and striking. His body size and weight grant him superior reach and strength against most opponents.[1]
Magazine Finishers[]
- Nakkuru Aroo (possibly "Knuckle Arrow"): A simple cross punch.[1]
Nen[]
When fighting Gon and Killua, he attacks by spewing catfish-looking tendrils out of his mouth. These appendages have a long-range and enough power to crack the floor. However, this was during the time when Kanjiru was using On, so it is unclear if this is an ability he normally uses.[1]
