Synopsis[]

Nobunaga En

Nobunaga's En

Killua and Gon split off in separate directions to escape from Nobunaga. Nobunaga tries to follow the smashed holes in the walls that the boys leave in their wake, but gets tricked by the boys, who continue to evade him. Instead, Nobunaga, after hearing Gon tell Killua that they're going to try and take Nobunaga on together, decides to stay still and utilize his advanced En to sense the boys if they get near him. However, the boys had been lying and are instead already running back towards the main part of the city by the time this happened.

Gon and Killua, on their way back into the city, talk about their plans; Gon wants to take on the Phantom Troupe since capturing three of them will earn them Jenny Symbol 20116 billion, which they need to bid on Greed Island. Killua insists that they need to refine their Nen before taking on the Spiders, as he believes the Spiders are way too strong for them. He suggests that they ask Kurapika for advice on the matter. He informs Gon that Kurapika is the Chain User that the Spiders have been trying to track down and the person who killed Uvogin, although they are unsure how he could have been strong enough to have done it.

Freelance Assassins Epis 60 1999

Kurapika at the assassins' meeting

In the city, Kurapika joins the group of assassins hired by the Ten Dons to take down the Phantom Troupe for a meeting held by Zenji. During the meeting, Silva and Zeno insist on working on their own terms, uninterested in the collaborative efforts being made by some of the other assassins. Some of the other hired assassins also become wary of the two when they discover that Silva and Zeno are part of the Zoldyck Family. A few of the other assassins, including Kurapika, agree with Zeno and Silva about working independently, and the group splits up in the end.

After the meeting, Light speaks with Kurapika before getting interrupted by Zenji, who openly makes fun of Light to his face, particularly in regards to his daughter being the reason he's made it so far. Zenji becomes furious when Light talks back to him, and he pushes Light to the ground, repeatedly punching his face. Kurapika stops Zenji, and Zenji threatens Kurapika for doing so before Zenji is pulled away by his comrades. Zenji and his team leave, and Light stands up, bloody but unfazed. Light explains to Kurapika how valuable his daughter's ability is and his determination to use that ability to get him to the top of the Mafia Community. He promises to reward Kurapika greatly should Kurapika remain loyal and useful to him.

Elsewhere, Neon stands outside, looking out at the city. She talks to herself, angry that her father lied to her about the auction being canceled for good. She had apparently planned to get into the reopened auction by herself, but discovered that she needed a pass to get in. Chrollo pulls up in a car nearby and gets out, studying a picture he has of Neon and confirming that it is, in fact, her.

Kurapika and Light take a car together. On the car ride, Kurapika gets a call from Melody, who informs him that Neon ran away while they were out together, having changed her clothes in the bathroom and disappearing. Kurapika is fairly certain that he knows where Neon went, so he instructs Melody and Basho to return to the hotel and wait for him and Light. Once Melody has hung up, Basho voices his confusion to her about why Kurapika would become an assassin since he seemed to have reservations about the idea; he also has trouble understanding Kurapika's motivations and life goals, as Basho has a much different perspective on life compared to Kurapika.

Neon writes Chrollo's fortune

Kurapika informs Light that his daughter is missing and is likely headed to the auction being held at the Cemetery Building. Light tries to call Neon, but she doesn't pick up. He then calls security at the auction to be on the lookout for a teen girl without a pass. However, Neon has already entered the auction building with Chrollo, who got her inside with his pass. Chrollo asks Neon to get a drink with him before the auction. They sit down together at a table and cheer their drinks. During their conversation, Chrollo asks Neon about her fortune-telling and even gets her to write his fortune for him. Chrollo watches her do this, planning to steal her ability.

An officer outside the auction calls Light to inform him that before Light called them, the officer had turned Neon away for not having a pass. Kurapika intends to find Neon using his Dowsing Chain and a map; he can figure out that Neon is somehow already inside the Cemetery Building, and Kurapika and Light head over there immediately.

Chrollo holding Neon HXH 99 EP60 001

Chrollo holds an unconcious Neon

Back in the Cemetery Building, Neon writes out Chrollo's fortune and hands it to him. He reads it and starts crying at the table, claiming Neon's ability to be very accurate. He tries to ask her about a part of his fortune, but she insists that she'd prefer not to get involved with the fortunes she writes and excuses herself to the washroom. At the sink in the washroom, Neon gets quite flustered over having seen Chrollo cry. When Neon returns, she and Chrollo head off to the auction together. She expresses how glad she is to have met Chrollo, as she claims he doesn't seem like the type of guy to lie to her. They get into a discussion about their beliefs regarding the afterlife and the purpose of fortune-telling. Chrollo claims to be dedicated to fulfilling his dead friend's wish, knocking Neon out so fast that no one around them notices what he did. He catches her in his arms, feigning concern and panic for her, which attracts the attention of the nearby security.
