Motaricke (モタリケ, Motariku) is a player of the game Greed Island.[1]

Appearance[]

Motaricke has short black hair, black eyes, and a bit of stubble on his upper lip. He wears a maroon vest over an off-set white, long-sleeved shirt that is worn over a black shirt, khaki pants, and gray shoes.[1]

Personality[]

Motaricke is an overthinking and logical person who, despite being extremely anxious and timid, mustered up the courage to ambush Gon and Killua.[1]

Plot[]

Greed Island arc[]

After Gon and Killua acquire their first specified slot card, Motaricke furtively tails them. He has a moral dilemma whether or not to steal their newly-acquired card, feeling guilty about taking a card from a kid but reminding himself that he has to provide for his wife. He begins to reflect on his past, having now spent years inside the game, but turns his attention back to the card, saying that he can sell it for at least 10 million in the game. Ultimately, he decides to steal it with his "Thief" card; he rationalizes that if he doesn't, other players will. In his confrontation with the boys, he demands that they hand over the card, but they refuse. So Motaricke uses his rare spell card, but it's destroyed the moment he uses it. This is because Gon and Killua took precautionary measures to prevent their card from being stolen.[1]

A couple of months later, the Bombers capture and enslave Motaricke with another player. Genthru forces Motaricke to roll the Risky Dice a couple of times and then subsequently use a "Lottery" card to help them obtain the "Wild Luck Alexandrite" card. Both of Motaricke's attempts fail to obtain the rare card.[2] Later on, the Bombers disguise him and another captured person as Sub and Bara, allowing the two Bombers to sneak up on Tsezguerra and his team with Tax Collector's Gauntlets to steal some of their cards.[3]

Later on, Motaricke's name is mentioned in Gon's binder.[4]

When Tsezguerra's spell cards begin to run out, Genthru remains with the two Sub and Bara impostors while the real ones stake out the spell card shop.[5]
