Nino (ニーノ, Niino) is an antagonist in the video game Hunter × Hunter: Each One's Determination with connections to the Four Heavenly Kings. He appears in Gon and Killua's route. He arrives at Whale Island to assist Don Gappai alongside Sadaso.[1]
Appearance[]
Nino is a young man with a slight tan, blonde hair, and brown eyes. His build is fairly thin. He is implied to be the youngest Heavenly King. He wears a blue sailor uniform.
Personality[]
When first met by Gon, Nino acts fairly clueless about Whale Island. He pretends to be naive and easily confused. However, when it's revealed he helped kidnap the islanders, he portrays himself as stubborn and overly aggressive, threatening to beat Gon to death at one point. He also doesn't value anyone besides himself and his fellow Heavenly Kings.
Background[]
Nino is one of Don Gappai's Four Heavenly Kings. Because of his boss' rivalry with the Nostrade Family, Nino was tasked with following Neon and capturing her. He disguised himself as one of the cruise ship's staff and headed for Whale Island. He was also ordered to bring Sadaso alongside him.

Each One's Determination[]
Note: Events occurring in Each One's Determination are not canon material.
Nino arrives at Whale Island to capture Neon, who is temporarily vacationing at Whale Island. During Gon & Killua's route, the two boys meet Nino at one of Whale Island's caves. They both notice Nino emitting aura. He introduces himself to them and explains that he came to the island from one of the cruise ships. While taking a stroll, he ended up getting lost in the woods. Gon proceeds to give him directions. As the older boy leaves, Killua comments that he is suspicious.
A few days later, in the middle of the night, Nino, Don Gappai, and Sadaso release multiple beasts throughout Whale Island. These include Noggin Lugging Tortoises, Six-legged Flying Beasts, and Man-faced Apes. Nino and Sadaso use the last of these to capture the various residents of Whale Island. Once most of them are captured, Nino uses his Nen ability, Shutter Bind to trap them inside photographs to sell off on the black market later. However, Gon, Killua, Neon, and her bodyguards still remain free. Nino revolves to find Neon himself.
Finding her in the woods, he attempts to attack her from behind a bush. However, Gon saves her. Nino then steps out, pretending to be lost again. Gon yells at him, pointing out how he can see his aura. This results in Nino becoming angry and attempting to beat up Gon. However, he manages to fight off Nino. At this, Nino tears at one of his photographs to release a Noggin Lugging Tortoise to distract Gon and escape.
Later on, Dalzollene, agreeing to help defeat Don Gappai and his men, has Shachmono release his Eleven Black Children Nen ability to distract the beasts throughout the island. This results in Nino and Sadaso being sent out to investigate. When the two men find Gon and Killua, Nino claims to have the advantage by still having the hostages encased inside photos. Killua asks him to show them as proof. Once Nino complies, the two boys manage to take the villagers' photos away from him. They then fight both men. After being knocked unconscious, Nino and Sadaso are restrained and brought into the woods.
Once they reawaken, Nino reveals their hideout to be in a nearby cave. Gon and Killua go to investigate, but are unable to find Don Gappai. The beasts themselves also disappear. From this, when it's time for Neon to return home, Dalzollene takes Nino and Sadaso away, leaving their fates unknown.
Abilities & Powers[]
As stated by some of the Man-faced Apes, Nino is one of the least physically fit members of the Four Heavenly Kings. However, he makes up for this with his hot-tempered nature and resorting to trickery. He is also a clever strategist, able to use his Nen ability to sneak in various beasts onto Whale Island.

When in close range, Nino places his fingers together to create a frame. An eye appears in the middle of it and shoots out an aura. If the recipient is hit, they will become trapped inside a Polaroid photograph. Inside said photo, they will remain unconscious until released.[1] To release any captives, the photographs themselves must be torn. Anyone can take this action. The likes of animals and humans can be encased inside a photo. It is unknown if multiple individuals can be trapped in the same photo.[1] |
