"If I can get reincarnated, I want to be a lethal weapon. Because I would feel the skin!! The blood!! The flesh!! The moment the life is taken!" — Padaille in "Clash: Part 2" |
Padaille (パドイユ, Padoiyu) was a former demolition worker[1] and a member of the Heil-Ly Family.[2]
Appearance[]
Padaille has sunken cheeks and a large nose. He has long bangs that reach his eyes and wears a plain long-sleeved shirt with pants.[1]
Personality[]
Padaille is a sadistic and homicidal man who craves killing and seems to care little about anything else. He is utterly loyal to Morena, as her ability allows him to satisfy his urges.[1]
Plot[]
Succession Contest arc[]
Padaille is seen with the other Heil-Ly members as Morena uses her Contagion on them one at a time and explains how her Nen ability works.[2]
On Tier 3 of the Black Whale, Padaille, Quorolle, and Tevelares spot Hinrigh and recognize him as the underboss of the Xi-Yu Family. Tevelares says that he's underestimating them by being alone, adding that he doesn't stand a chance against all three of them. Quorolle points out Hinrigh's En and says that he will notice if they get within five meters of him. Padaille offers to attack Hinrigh first, telling the other two to look for an opening and finish him off. While Quorolle calls it a basic strategy and wonders if they should use their guns, Tevelares remembers that killing a Nen user gives them ten levels and wonders how they will split it amongst the three of them. Padaille says that all ten should go to the one who deals the killing blow, but Quorolle argues that they all should get something. Tevelares wonders who gets to decide the details, and Quorolle replies that it will obviously be Morena since it's her power and she's the game master, most likely able to tell what they're doing at all times.[1]
As Padaille sprints after Hinrigh and says that he doesn't care as long as he gets to kill, the details for all three members are revealed. Tevelares is an Enhancer and civil engineer (level 24). Quorolle is an Emitter and repairman (level 22). Padaille is a Conjurer and demolition worker (level 29). Padaille says to himself that if he could be reborn as a weapon, he would be able to feel the skin, blood, and flesh as he kills his prey. He then turns his right hand into a hammer as he activates his Fistful of Weapons ability. He says that Morena allowed his wish to come true and that he will do everything he can to kill for her sake and his own.[1]
Padaille waltzes behind Hinrigh and suddenly raises his weapon to strike him. However, a handcuff suddenly appears around his right wrist, with the other end of the chain connected to a pigeon. As Hinrigh mocks his ability, the pigeon flies toward Padaille's other wrist and turns back into the other handcuff, restraining the Heil-Ly member's hands behind his back. Hinrigh tells Tevelares and Quorolle to attack him and call for backup since he still has plenty of pigeons. The two members draw their handguns and fire toward the pigeons and Hinrigh, but their shots are ineffective. Hinrigh explains that while the pigeons are made from regular handcuffs, they are reinforced with aura, and standard bullets won't be enough.[1]
Having turned his right hand into a drill to slip out of the handcuff, Padaille lunges toward Hinrigh with the weapon. Hinrigh quickly turns and stops the drill with his left hand, which pierces through it. He realizes that Padaille can use various weapons and quickly kicks him back. Another pigeon suddenly puts a handcuff around Padaille's left ankle and connects it to the free handcuff dangling from his left wrist, restraining him once again. Hinrigh asks what he plans to do now and tells him that his friends seem to be leaving him to his fate. Padaille angrily replies that a chain won't stop him and suddenly turns his hand into an axe to free himself.[1]
However, Hinrigh quickly stops him and says that he can now feel what it's like to kill and be killed, slowly pushing the axe into the back of his head as blood drips from his eyes. As Tevelares and Quorolle make their escape and a crowd begins to gather, Hinrigh wishes that he could have taken them somewhere else to be more discreet but says that he can't allow himself to get held up, adding that he's now counting on someone named Misha. Quorolle wonders what they should do given how troublesome the pigeons are, and Tevelares replies that he doesn't want to get tortured over the location of their hideout, suggesting that they ask Morena for instructions.[1]
As a large crowd gathers near the scene and voices their concerns, the soldiers try to calm them down by assuring them that the perpetrator of the previous incidents has already been arrested. With one passenger pointing it out, Padaille rises to his feet with aura swelling around him and stands beside Hinrigh. Three soldiers approach the two and ask Padaille if he wants to press charges. Padaille assures them that they resolved the issue after a brief fight, and Hinrigh says that the gunshots seen were used against him. One soldier recognizes him as the Xi-Yu underboss, and Hinrigh confirms it, saying that Padaille is only a civilian.[3]
After Maizan tells Padaille that he is free to go, the crowd watches the wounded Padaille walking away from the scene. A woman with a bullet hole in her head is then seen riding on his back. She is revealed to be Misha Hao, a deceased Xi-Yu member. Previously the family's undertaker, her post-mortem Nen ability causes her to appear and inconspicuously dispose of any person killed by a Xi-Yu member. Once the corpse has been dealt with, she vanishes.[3]
Once Tevelares and Quorolle return to the Heil-Ly’s hideout, the former explains to the other members that the Xi-Yu underboss killed Padaille with his ability, and they need to destroy the pigeons at a distance.[4]
Abilities & Powers[]
Nen[]
Padaille was a Conjurer. He was infected by Heil-Ly boss Morena Prudo's Nen ability, Contagion, which rewarded recipients of Contagion with levels for killing people. Recipients of Contagion gain increased aura amount and output with every level, and can manifest a new Nen ability at level 20. Having reached level 29 with Morena's Nen ability, Padaille's aura amount and output were increased, and he obtained a Nen ability.[1]
