Shives (シイブス, Shiibusu)[1] is a character from the video game Hunter × Hunter: Each One's Determination. He appears in Kurapika's route and is one of Rorgo's henchmen.
Appearance[]
Shives is a thin man with a pale complexion. He adorns his face with black eyeliner and has pointed ears, making him resemble a vampire. He has gray hair and sideburns, which frame his pointed face. He wears a black sweater and red nail extensions.
Personality[]
Of Rorgo's men, Shives tends to use sneak attacks and general trickery to win a fight. His fighting sprite is also more vulgar, depicting him raising a middle finger. However, from him prioritizing distance attacks, he can easily be cornered and forced into a ring out.[1]
Background[]
Shives, Doro, Surirao, and Donal were all hired before the game events. Shives' specific motivations are not clarified upon. He, alongside Doro and Surirao, acts as guards for Rorgo.[1]

Each One's Determination[]
Note: Events occurring in Each One's Determination are not canon material.
After the VIP party, Rorgo kidnaps Clario and tasks his henchmen to guard his mansion while waiting for Kurapika. Rorgo demands none of them kill him; instead, capture the Kurta member if possible. Shives is found on the west side of the building. Holding back, he attempts to fight Kurapika. He is then defeated. As he leaves, he claims Rorgo has a message for him: "Orange is right."[1]
At Logos Island, Kurapika is tasked by Rorgo to fight Shives, Doro, and Surirao without killing any of them. He is then to record the alphabet letters on their bodies. Failure to do so would cause Rorgo to refuse to face him and his collection of Scarlet Eyes to remain hidden. Shives is in the forest. Using his "Half-Chameleon" ability, he attempts to approach Kurapika while invisible. At this, Kurapika swings his bokken swords around. He quickly realizes that Shives is unable to attack while invisible. This results in Shives revealing himself and them fighting. After this, Kurapika inspects his body only to find a spider tattoo with the letter 'Z' in the middle and a hint saying, "Red is front." Kurapika concludes the tattoo was meant to offend him and leaves as Shives is left unconscious.[1]
Abilities & Powers[]
When fighting, he mainly relies on his Nen abilities to launch attacks. This is indicated by his fighting sprites showing lasers emit from his hands. His main ability is called "Half-Chameleon." As the name implies, he can hide himself using his aura. He is unable to attack in this form, though. Besides Nen, he will occasionally resort to a mace bludgeon weapon.
