    Fanart licensing

    December 28, 2011 by Foreva

Hi everyone, I've been writing a set of rules for images used on Hunterpedia. Everything went smoothly until I bumped into the problem of fanart. You know, as Hunterpedia is hosted on US servers, every images here MUST be licensed. It's not hard to give screenshots or images cropped from the manga proper licenses but I truly don't know what to do with fan arts--they are practically a legal minefield. I'm using a fan art myself, but even after I went to the page of the author on pixiv, I found no statement whatsoever by him on the matter of the image's copyright. And because I don't speak Japanese, it's impossible to ask him about the license under which he released the fan art.

    EDIT: After g…

One Piece: 3200+ articles; Naruto: 4300+; Bleach: 1500+; Fairy Tail: 1600+; Reborn!: 1500+; Dragon Ball: 3500+; etc.

Dragon Ball, Naruto and One Piece I can understand why they have so many articles and contributors: they are manga giants in their own rights and indeed have a lot of stuff for readers to ponder and write about. But Bleach having 6 times as many articles as Hunterpedia's is hardly justifiable as far as I can see (I only read the first 100 chapters or so of it): the majority of this manga is made up of chapters with barely any text to begin with, …
