RE: Nen = Mind Force/SenseEdit

I found the following translations for the Nen kanji (念): sense, feeling, idea, attention, concern, thought, care, or desire. The closest to the expression "Mind Force" is 念頭 (nentō, lit. "mind") because it uses the kanji 念 too. The official translation is not literal but it seems to be better than any of the literal translations.

Also, 念 seems to be a junction of 心 (mind; heart; spirit) with 今 (now; the present time; just now; soon; immediately; [one] more). --Gorgo616 (talk) 01:03, June 3, 2019 (UTC)

I would say yes, "Mind Force" is an adapted translation. There is the possibility that Viz has chosen this term because of the "link" between Nen and para-psychological abilities. --Gorgo616 (talk) 16:40, June 3, 2019 (UTC)

Why not? It is another small detail related to the translation and adaptation of the manga, so I'm in favor of adding a note if you want. The note serves both for those who are interested in this type of information and for when the subject arises in discussions. --Gorgo616 (talk) 03:05, June 4, 2019 (UTC)

Your first solution seemed very appropriate, so I went ahead and implemented the changes. But I have not added any notes about the main Viz's translation to the term Nen ("Mind Force") being non-literal as already seems to be clear by the way it is now. --Gorgo616 (talk) 20:31, June 4, 2019 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. In the "Nen of the Flame" case the Viz translation is closer to the literal translation ("burn"). As you may have already noticed, I made the same kind of change in the article. --Gorgo616 (talk) 23:22, June 6, 2019 (UTC)

RE: Nen templateEdit

It was just a little addition, maybe some more will come. I'm working on a template for references, mainly to make it possible to add details such as page and panel numbers and to keep the reference code short. If the template becomes functional, the Nen article can benefit from this in some points; although it would be a headache to recheck so many references. --Gorgo616 (talk) 01:59, June 9, 2019 (UTC)

Re: Hypothetical Edit

Feel free. I no longer have any strong association with the series, but my document is still freely accessible online. As it's public, I don't have any problem with anyone citing it. I appreciate you asking permission first, though. Thank you for being one of the few on this wiki who wasn't attempting to antagonize me with bad faith argumentation.
