Voconte (ボコンテ, Bokonte) is a member of the Heil-Ly Family.[2]

Appearance[]

Voconte has a long face and bags under his eyes. He has black hair that's parted in the middle and falls just above his ears. He is seen wearing a shirt, jacket, and pants.[1]

Personality[]

Voconte seems practical, advising his fellow Heil-Ly members to trap their would-be victims using his ability. He is extremely obedient to Morena, seen standing beside her during the card game. Like his fellow members, he has sadistic tendencies and no qualms about killing many people.[1]

Plot[]

Succession Contest arc[]

Voconte is seen with the other Heil-Ly members as Morena uses her Contagion on them one at a time and explains how her Nen ability works.[2]

Chap 393 - Several Heil-Ly members

Voconte standing in a room with his fellow members staring at Luini's bifercated corpse

In the Heil-Ly's hideout, several members look at the bottom half of Luini's corpse up against a nearby wall. A construction worker named Daemon (level 20) points out how much Luini's loss will affect them since he allowed them to hunt for prey from the hideout. Gelato (a professional gamer and level 19) adds how dangerous it will be now since the military is on high alert. An investigator's assistant named Perigord (level 18) suggests that someone should recreate Luini's ability. An arcade employee named Bille (level 20) says that he has already decided on his ability. Perigord reminds them that Morena said everyone has an innate type, confident that Luini was an Emitter. Bille replies that an Emitter needs to do the job, but Gelato points out that they need to figure out how to raise their levels so they can reach level 21. Voconte, an Emitter and mercenary transporter (level 26), speaks up and suggests using his "door" ability to catch prey that wanders into the trap, adding that they could also invite them.[1]

After Bille kills Tassi, Terebellum takes Tassi's corpse to the disposal area in the group's hideout and tells Chiffon Toto and Montblanc Toto that Voconte connected the room to processing.[3]

Chap 399 - Communal Area

When Hinrigh and Nobunaga infiltrate the Heil-Ly's hideout, Voconte can be seen sitting on a sofa and casually reading something.[4]

Chapter 405 - Dogman and Sodom discuss how to proceed

Voconte talking to Morena

On the twelfth day of the voyage, Morena notifies some of her underlings that 9th Prince Halkenburg's funeral procession is taking place, and that it would be a perfect opportunity as a lot of people will gather for the send-off, and says that Dogman finding the person they were looking for is a green light and the beginning of the end. After Dogman and Sodom leave to find the person Morena seeks, Voconte asks Morena where the others went, and hears that they were leveling up in processing to get revenge on Hinrigh.[5]

Chap 407 - Borksen asking Morena

Borksen asks if Morena has any intention of cheating, which surprises Voconte

The Heil-Ly capture PFC Borksen during her patrol as Halkenburg's funeral procession passes by her on Tier 3. She is brought to the Heil-Ly Family Secret Hideout, where she regains consciousness only to find herself surrounded by Morena and five of her underlings, including Voconte. Voconte stands on Morena's immediate left with his arms together in front of him, facing Borksen as Morena explains the rules of a negotiation game to Borksen. During the explanation, Borksen tries asking a practice question, and asks Morena if she would cheat during the game. Morena takes the chance to clarify the nuances of the phrasing of her answer, and Voconte candidly ribs Yokotani for having a similar speech pattern.[6]

Voconte watches silently as Morena and Borksen play their game. After Borksen discards the "Yes" card in the second round, Voconte is disappointed and does not try to hide his expression. From the reactions of the Heil-Ly to the "Yes" card being discarded, Borksen concludes that they likely had not cheated in the past, though she cannot rule out that she is the first person they have tried to recruit that does not want to join them. The speaker beeps and interrupts the game to announce that Special Martial Law has been declared.[7] Voconte and the other people present listen to the instructions announced. Despite the declaration of Special Martial Law, Borksen continues the game. Voconte continues spectating, and watches intently during the final round to see whether Borksen's final card would be a "No" or a "Return", which she had earlier stated would be used to return the "X" card and void the game. Borksen flips over the "Return" card, and crumples it, having grabbed it too tightly in her relief at surviving. Gelato and the other underlings leave, not believing they need to watch Borksen return the "X" card, but hear Morena ask Borksen if she had made a mistake, and turn to see that Borksen has chosen to return the "Yes" card.[8] Morena's tone changes, and she accuses Borksen of cheating. Voconte and the other underlings return and surround her. Morena reveals that cheating in the card game triggers a manipulative ability that forces its targets to say only Yes or No, and hears Borksen affirm one more time that she will join the Heil-Ly. Voconte and the other underlings applaud her choice, and Borksen is released from the manipulative ability, collapsing to the ground. [9]

Abilities & Powers[]

Nen[]

Voconte is an Emitter. Having reached level 26 with Morena's Nen ability, Voconte's aura amount and output have been increased. He also obtained a teleportation Nen ability that he refers to as "Door".[1]

Voconte's Nen Type: Emission
Type: Emission Door
Chap 394 - Tassi disappears
The ability is used to teleport unsuspecting victims from Room 3101 (with Gateaume acting as the lookout) to the Heil-Ly's hideout where the members can easily kill them to gain levels.[3][10] The trap is analyzed in detail by Nobunaga, Phinks, and Feitan, with Nobunaga describing it as a land mine type, where the activation switch is set up in specific locations and is more coercive than a barrier type.[11]

The Heil-Ly Family Secret Hideout contains another teleportation door in their base, which is likely another instance of Voconte's Door, teleporting users to Room 3101. Nen dolls conjured by fellow Heil-Ly member Yokotani's LSDF appear to be able to freely pass through the door without being teleported. It is unclear if this is because the door does not teleport Nen conjurations, because Voconte has the ability to actively decide in the moment what gets teleported through, or because Yokotani's dolls are an exception.[4]
