Summary[]
Meruem emerges fully healed after Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi offered him part of themselves, but he is unable to remember anything besides his name. He eventually remembers fighting someone, and as the three prepare to head back to the palace to hopefully awaken his memory, Pouf seizes his chance and has his shell fly back to kill Komugi before Meruem can reunite with her. After Knuckle activates his A.P.R. and Palm uses her Wink Blue, the others learn that the King is still alive. As Pouf uses his clones to look for Komugi, Killua holds her on his shoulders and eventually realizes that the Royal Guard is trying to kill her. After Killua fights him back, Pouf leaves to hide the Gungi board and pieces so they don't trigger Meruem's memory.
Gon and Neferpitou arrive at Kite's location in Peijin, with the Royal Guard believing that Komugi is no longer a hostage. Gon orders them to heal Kite, but Pitou reveals that he died when the two fought and that their ability is only able to preserve and manipulate. After handing over Komugi to Palm, Killua uses Speed of Lightning to race toward Gon, who begins to break down and finally becomes distraught at Pitou's deceit, summoning an incredible amount of power.
After their Terpsichora proves ineffective, Pitou sees that Gon has forced himself to grow to the point where he can beat them. The Royal Guard tries to strike him from behind, but Gon easily dodges and kicks them high into the air, punching their face with a powerful Jajanken. Killua finds Gon repeatedly punching Pitou until their death, but with post-mortem Nen and their Terpsichora, the headless Royal Guard servers Gon's right arm, which Gon then uses to stab Pitou's chest, pinning them to the ground as he unleashes an even more powerful Jajanken.
Still trying to regain his memory, Meruem unleashes his En to search the palace and then incapacitates both Knuckle and Meleoron. While Palm and Ikalgo hide Komugi in the basement, Welfin acts as a messenger and confronts Youpi. As his nose begins to bleed, Meruem spots a lone Gungi piece and remembers his game with someone. Pouf finds Youpi lying dead and informs Meruem, who orders Pouf to tell him everything.

Trivia[]
- Isaac Netero's depiction on the cover is heavily based on the figure of Ungyō, one of the two Niō—wrathful and muscular guardians of the Buddha standing at the entrance of many Buddhist temples in the form of wrestler-like statues. The design and the pose come specifically from the Japanese wooden sculpture at Kōfuku-ji (a temple in the city of Nara, Japan), considered a National Treasure of Japan.
