Following a potent scent of medicine, Gon and Killua frantically search for a woman they see being attacked in the forest. In their search, they're ambushed by a pack of wolves; however, they defend themselves against them. Although the sound of a bell distracts them for a moment, they waste no further time, and the two re-follow the scent trail again and find Ponzu and the woman surrounded by three men. The women distraught by this encounter are Gon and Killua, that make the men flee after defeating them. Both of the women thank the boys, and the unnamed woman introduces herself as Romaria, a worker of the Midonite Government Environment Protection Bureau. After the introductions, the Hunter Association airship arrives to pick them up.[1]
Inside Chairman Netero's room on the airship, Romaria explains to the Hunter group her goal to investigate the Forest Ruins in the Wollow Forest. So Netero assigns Gon, Killua, and Leorio to this task, and the group starts their investigation by returning to the forest. During their investigation, the group encounters a trio of Kiriko that guard the Forest Ruins doors.[1]
After the events of the Dragon Vein and Sabaki's rampage on the Hunter Association airship, Hisoka places an unconscious Sabaki by a tree near the Wollow Forest. Though the young man protests that he should not have been saved, Hisoka claims that letting him die would be a waste for an unripe fruit like him.[1]
Afterward, Gon and Killua return to the Wollow Forest and encounter a fellow Hunter named Ogyu. The two fight with Ogyu, and after their skirmish, the Hunter learns that Gon and Killua are also Hunters. The Hunter group learns that Ogyu is after the Goddess Advent Cards, and the group agrees to help Ogyu with his goal, and one of them is dropped by the Kiriko in the Wollow Forest.[1]
